Re: Catalinas are landing!!

Oh boy, my general solvency will be threatened if this keeps up. All of the pre-orders are hitting at once. The only thing keeping my biggest pre-order at bay now is the wait for the upcoming Corgi 1/50 Tiger with Panzergrenadiers due in October. We'll see if they hit that mark or not but Christmas is coming early for certain.

Thanks for the intel gents.

Thumbs up Re: Catalinas are landing!!

Boy that does look sweet! This photo and my Swordfish make it look like Corgi is putting more effort into the detail and paint of their figures. Those aren’t bad.

Re: Catalinas are landing!!

At least they arrive !!
The first one looks good, I'm waiting for members opinions !!
It's a big model, would like to see it next to a B17, or B24 CC to compare...

Re: Catalinas are landing!!

Couple of questions.

Does the nose turret rotate?

Do the gun blisters on the waist have guns? Are the blisters removable, or at least openable?

Thanks.

Re: Catalinas are landing!!

What's the story with the nose turret? I've seen pictures with turrets that are fully enclosed (flat top), some that are enclosed by a large bubble on the top of the turret and a second bubble around the gun, and some with open tops (like the one modelled here). I took a quick look via google, and I can't seem to find any materials that actually discuss the various turret designs used on the Cat. Anyone?

(Nice pics!)

Re: Catalinas are landing!!

I bet sitting in that front turret over the North Atlantic was not a very plesant experience.

Is this the Amphibious version, or the one without wheels? Could not tell it it's got undercarrage or not.

Yes. This is the straight PBY-5 (the "A" version had the retractable undercart).
