My first tandem helo is so cool!

I don't think I would be to far of the mark in saying that the majority of MH2 members collect airplanes rather then helicopters. In my case I really didn't buy my first helicopter until a couple of years ago (a Corgi Sea King #AA33412). Since then I have added another four to my collection as they add something different / interesting to look at among all the "normal" airplane fare. The only complaint I have to collecting helicopters (helos) is the amount of space they take-up due to the diameter of their rotor blades. Up to now I have collected single-rotor versions, but that changed today when my fifth, and latest, acquisition arrived today.

I got a terrific deal on an MIB RAAF Chinook tandem-rotor helo (AA34205). It is well detailed and has a great camo paint scheme. What really took me by surprise is that there is a gear mechanism inside the model which rotates the opposite set of blades in the correct direction as the blades are turned. Who would have thought!? However the problem of space again raises its ugly head and required some precision-fitting of the model on the shelf. Still, it is one sweet model that I would recommend to anyone.

Helicopters aren't for everyone as they do present a display problem. However, if you can add a few of the more substancial Corgi offerings (I got the Jayhawk and am glad I only paid $20 for it at TM) you won't regret it.

Now, if I could snag a Corgi Falklands Chinook, for what I paid for this one, I would be one very happy camper!

I see we still haven't managed to figure out how to unfold and setup that new photo-tent?

I also have the nice Coast Guard Jayhawk from the Tuesday Morning deal last month along with the Forgotten Heros Bell H-47. Both are a keeper. Just picked up the new Hobby Master Vietnam Huey also and another 'keeper'. I told myself I wasn't going to buy choppers...

I know, I know...

It has just been to windy and/or hot to take pics outside. Lame excuse, but I'm sticking with it.

Yes, I know Bret. I also said that I wouldn't collect anything but 1/72 scales...until I saw the HM Buffalo in 1/48 last summer. After 4 Buffs later, I am still saying that...until I saw the new Hobby Masters F-3F comming out soon.

The RAAF Wokka is one of the best along with Bravo November, just avoid like the plague the Legends SAS one and the apple green RAF one (I won't even call it an HC.2 )with Landrover two of the most inaccurate models yet made. But if you like helos just wait and see what is in the future

Oh you tease. As the resident Helicopter expert, I know you would not steer us wrong. Looking forward to the revival of Corgi and seeing the work you have been doing for them with helos.
