Re: Yankee Doodle or Memphis Belle?

No way could I sell Lorraine, the first time the buyer got the food bill he would send her back!

God Bless America.

Re: Yankee Doodle or Memphis Belle?

I have been tracking a Belle on ebay UK. It just closed, selling for 100.00 GBP (approx. 198.00 USD). My high bid was 88.00 GBP. I enquired about shipping costs to the US prior to bidding: 38.00 GBP, fairly reasonable I thought. Anyway, if a US bidder won it, he will be paying about $275.00. I have been watching ebay for several weeks now. No other Belle's have I seen.

All I can say is, Elmer, the Belle’s worth every penny. Might cost you big time, but ten years from now you won’t even remember what you paid for it. And by then it’ll be so rare you could sell it for five times the price (if you wanted to).

Honestly, not too long ago I stewed over selling off all my Corgi heavies to make money to buy more models. But it occurred to me (thank goodness) that these bombers are just too bloody cool to part with, so I kept them. And boy, am I glad I did.

Buy the Belle!

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Re: Yankee Doodle or Memphis Belle?

Great words of wisdom there Gort

Elmer - two weeks ago Jumblies in the UK had the 'Belle listed for £60. Trust me, that website is worth checking regularly

Take it out and play with it

Re: Yankee Doodle or Memphis Belle?

Guess what finally landed at my hangar today? Yup... Memphis Belle! Yoo hoo! If that ain't good enough, the price I paid is certainly a bonus... $151.35 shipped, NIB, perfect. After an extensive and comprehensive nation-wide search, I found it at a little known store and it was the last one in stock.

It is a beauty... right up there with Admiral Prune, one of the best Corgi models I have seen or owned. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me and shared their advice/words of wisdom regarding this model.
