Re: Yankee Doodle or Memphis Belle?

Other than the port and starboard cockpit windows, I can't see much else wrong with Yankee Doodle. I know the camo pattern is correct (but I am not sure if the colors are spot on). 41-9023 had a proud career and was on the cutting edge of the 8th's development. It is an historically important aircraft. The camo may not be to everyone's liking, but like it or not, it went into combat with this camo. Why is the model held in less regard by collectors?

Anyway, for now, it is a no-brainer. I ain't forkin' out $262.00 bucks at Perry's for MB, no matter how good it is. I'll look around. Anyone have an MB they would like to sell for less than $200.00????

Re: Yankee Doodle or Memphis Belle?

Kind of like all these Corgi B-17 shots. Lots of neat close up shots.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

I think it's just that the YD isn't as well known -- though by the climbing prices on all the forts you might want to act sooner than later.... Also, I think it's just a bit, well, not as pretty as the rest of the Corgi B-17 fleet correct camo or not. But, as you point out, its service record makes up for that

I'm just out of room for more heavies myself, so I had to keep it to two 1:72s -- MB, and BOL.

Re: Yankee Doodle or Memphis Belle?

What are your thoughts on the following:

Yankee Doodle for $107.00 shipped

or

Memphis Belle for $150.00 - $200.00 shipped

Or... if you could only have one (just one) early model B-17, which would it be?

OK, change of plans: the vendor (UK... Swap-meet Models) I thought had the Belle in, sold out.

So here is a new dilemma:

Memphis Belle for $262.00 shipped (Jeez... now we are approaching the cost of a POTR!!!)

or

Yankee Doodle for $107.00 shipped

That settles it, Elmer !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ditch the '17's & buy a 'P.O.T.R.' instead

Fantastic colours, superb history, STILL available & best still, no nasty join lines to fret over..........

It's a no-brainer !!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol !!!!!!!

Ha Ha! Good one, HC! Trouble is, I spent my Lanc money on JP's Admiral Prune! It cost me an arm and a leg and the left one! Good thing I am done having kids...

If I get it now, for more than I paid for Admiral Prune, Mrs. E will knock out the right one! Might as well start digging my hole now...
