Re: Yankee Doodle or Memphis Belle?

Another easy one...The F has less of a nose gap then the G model has...
Thats why i like the Memphis Bell so much is that there is really no gap at all on mine.

Re: Yankee Doodle or Memphis Belle?

Both are fine models in my opinion. Get the Belle just because it's the Memphis Belle.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Yankee Doodle or Memphis Belle?

OK, change of plans: the vendor (UK... Swap-meet Models) I thought had the Belle in, sold out. So here is a new dilemma:

Memphis Belle for $262.00 shipped (geez... now we are approaching the cost of a POTR!!!)

or

Yankee Doodle for $107.00 shipped

or... wait it out for a Belle to become available on e-bay? How much do you think a MB would go for on e-bay? Damn my stubborn resistance to four engine heavies!! I should have acquired this one several years ago!!

The last few MBs I saw on ebay went for much less than that -- under $150 if memory serves, just a few weeks ago. I'd wait on that if I were you -- I think under $200 shipped from stateside seller on ebay is reasonable to expect. You can always find one for $250 I would think.

Boy do I wish I bought the 8 or so that were at that first TM sale when I walked in -- for $29/ea.

I agree about the nose join issue, too, my MB is pretty much perfect in that regard. Then again, so is my BOL -- my 909 and SJ were not great.

Re: Yankee Doodle or Memphis Belle?

I would wait it out like Pappy says...I too have seen them go less then 150.00 on ebay...
Remember some of the Yankee Doodle had there pilot cockpit painted the wrong way with just a little bit of window showing through.

Re: Yankee Doodle or Memphis Belle?

Thanks all for your feedback. Give me more feedback on the nose join lines: E/F vs. G. Big difference? Slight difference? No difference?

No difference that I can see. It's really a model to model thing........and if you happened to get a bonus check day model or a Friday afternoon special. Luckily, mine have all been decent b/c I've been able to inspect most of them (7 Corgi B-17's) b4 buying them.
