1/32 Spit...good deal or no???

I make impulsive purchases sometimes, and this was probably one of those. I was just on the "bay" and came across a NIB Sailor Malan "Working Range" Spitfire with a buy it now of $69. I have been looking for a 1/32 Spit for some time, but they always go for well over $100. Does anyone have this model. Did I get a good deal here? Thanks.

Re: 1/32 Spit...good deal or no???

Good deal on the price, but I have heard that these have had problems with the mechanical bits (landing gear) going bad after a few uses.

Hard to beat a price like that.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: 1/32 Spit...good deal or no???

I would love to have the Grumpy Spit. The flightline versions are my fav b/c they don't have the hideous pilots!! The problem is that each of the 1/32 Spits I've seen on Ebay recently have gone for upwards of $130. I didn't want to pay quite that much. We'll see what it looks like when it gets here. According to the Tricatus site, this Spit is the rarest 1/32 Spit of them all at only 1600 produced. It doesn't seem like the working action ones are that sought after though. I sure wish Corgi would have made the Graf 109 though. That is a striking scheme!

Good deal for sure CL! Just be sure that you don't set the model on it's landing gear, it's not strong enough to hold the plane for extended periods of time.

I may be in the minority here but I like the working range -- well, I like the Hurricane I have. I, too, got an ebay deal $50 delivered I think. The box had some water damage but the model was fine. My kids love the model -- and I hope it helps them gain some appreciate for Dad's hobby (least so they don't sell all the stuff for peanuts when I'm gone ).

The gear is silly, the way it works, but the spinning prop and engine noise is sort of cool I think -- in that I AM AN AIRPLANE DORK sort of way. See, I can admit it. Be interesting to see how the Graf sells, if and when it ever comes out, that is.

My sentiments exactly. I would like to be able to display it with the other JG52 pilots (Hartmann and Barkhorn).

Pappy we are all AIRPLANE DORKs, otherwise we wouldn't be in this addictive hobby. I'm quite sure the Graf would sell well since a lot of people clamor about it. It is one of the few that I would be willing to pay full MSRP for.

You're in good company here, Pappy!

I can't wait to get the Graf myself, and would be happy to fork out retail too!
