Re: Corgi AA32609 Grand Slam Lancaster

Good score! KM*B was my first and favourite Lanc.

Fully agree with ya, 100% ZS.

Was also my 1st (& Fave) Lancaster; mainly because of the older 'A.1' type (fuselage) roundels which (so) typify the early war years... & Bomber-Command as it was gathering pace (in it's pre-'Pathfinder' days).

Also, makes it VERY distinct from the others (in terms of markings).

& that's before you take into account the (very) daring Daylight-raid it took part in (as lead a/c).

Strangely enough, I've seen one or two (44Sqdn/Nettletons) for sale recently, at BIG dollars !!!!!!!!!!

And yet, the subject of this thread, (the 'Grand-Slams') are like Lord-Lucan over this side of the Atlantic ! (scarce).

Re: Corgi AA32609 Grand Slam Lancaster

I received mine yesterday (won on evilbay last week). I paid 78 GBP plus 53 GBP for signed-for shipment. The seller was non-private, but a trader. So far, so good (thatīs what I was thinking). I opened the box, just to find the plane like this:

-main canopy broken in pieces and re-glued together (probably by pre-owner);
-same with the bomb gunnerīs canopy;
-propeller No. 2 and 4 stuck (obviously glued in by pre-owner)
-1,5 cmē excess glue below the cockpitīs port side (obviously from the pre-ownerīs attempt to fix it);
-one tailfin of the bomb is broken off.

The point is: it was described as "mint in box" and in "excellent condition" by the seller. A definite lie! The described issues cannot have occured at Corgiīs factory; we know their quality control is lacking, but not that catastrophic. And the issues cannot have been overlooked when taking the photos for ebay.

The seller is now pointing at his return policy terms which say that I could of course be refunded. But: before, I would have to pay another 70€ for the re-shipment since the German Mail donīt do shipment "not free". And even if this would have been the case and even if I had gotten a purchase refund, I would still have lost 53 GBP for the shipment from the UK.

"Resistance is futile."

I would put in a claim (including the postage cost) with paypal stating that the seller has misrepresented the item. I managed to find the listing for the item you bought and it mentions none of the very obvious defects in the model you received. The seller has made the stuff-up, it should be he that wears the cost.

Checkout these ebay items where he lists the defects 360059589506 & 360059591096

Open a dispute with paypal and see if he'll come to the party, he's got 100% rating at the moment he may not want to lose it

You might want to post this over at the DAF forum too, they might want to add 's.carrington' to their deadbeat list as well.

Hope all works out with the paypal claim.

With all thses problems, seller should just suck it up and give you a full refund. This would definitely be one of those times where negative feedback is more than warranted.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Corgi AA32609 Grand Slam Lancaster

I like this part of the "return policy"

"providing it is returned in the same condition it was sent."

Should not be a problem still. Paypal should be on your side on this one!!

Get a refund on the shipping too!

Fully agree with Star & Cruv'.

Presuming you paid paypal (?) so wait till the refund & (then) "mug him off" with 'Neg-Feedback'

As Cruv' said, it's MORE than warranted as you've lost the Ģ 53 shipping.

Good Luck with the claim.
