What are the best 1/72 Corgi "Biggies?"

For all you Corgi 1:72 "Biggie" collectors...

What is the best four engine mold? What is second best?

What is the best twin engine mold? What is second best?

JP... feel free to turn into a poll if you would like, I can't figure out how to do it

Your just gonna have to take charge of this and keep track of the members picks...
Once you post this you can't go back and add a poll to it...
So have fun...
By the way the best Corgi mold Biggie for me would be:
1.B-17F
2.Lancaster

Twin Engine :
1. He-111
2. B-25

George Preddy was......Just the greatest fighter pilot who ever squinted through a gunsight.
He was a complete fighter pilot.......Colonel John C. Meyer Deputy Commander of the 352nd.

Re: What are the best 1/72 Corgi "Biggies?"

I would have to say:

Four Engine = Lancaster followed by the B24 then the B17 and the Halifax

Three Engine = Ju52 followed by the Ju52

Two Engine
= Heinkel 111, followed closely by the B25 then the Ju88 or Mosquito

One sheep to rule them all ...

Re: What are the best 1/72 Corgi "Biggies?"

Four-engined: all I have to go by is what I have, and I only have the B-17 and B-24, so I'll vote'em in that order.

Two-engined: all I have is the B-25 and He-111, and I'd say it's basically a toss-up, perhaps a slight edge to the B-25 (after all, it IS an American aircraft!)

Re: What are the best 1/72 Corgi "Biggies?"

The best four-engine mold has to be the Lanc. It's not my favorite, mind you, but I think technically it is way better than both the Fort and Lib -- none of those ugly gap/seam issues.

Second best I would say is the Lib... simply as I've seen more gap issues with the Forts.

Best twin engine mold I think is the He-111, it's just superb -- all the ones I've owned have been pretty much perfect in terms of fit/finish. Second best is the B-25 which is a very close second.

You are wanting pics for molds not liveries, correct... ?

Re: What are the best 1/72 Corgi "Biggies?"

Some of this depends on which model version you are looking at. For example, the Corgi B-17E is simply wrong- at least the most recent example of it. That would tend to push it way down the list. Their F and G models are much better in the accuracy department.

Re: What are the best 1/72 Corgi "Biggies?"

For me the Lancaster is the best done mold and assembly of the four engined planes, followed by the B-17G. The twin engined winners are the HE-111 and Wellington in that order---again, due to mold quality and assembly.

I'm 100% in agreement with you on this one Pappy. That said, I haven't seen the Halifax, Ju 88 and Catalina up close, so those might fit in there somewheres. The Wellington is around the same quality as the B-25 from what I've seen.
