Re: What are the best 1/72 Corgi "Biggies?"

I would have to say:

Four Engine = Lancaster followed by the B24 then the B17 and the Halifax

Three Engine = Ju52 followed by the Ju52

Two Engine
= Heinkel 111, followed closely by the B25 then the Ju88 or Mosquito

I agree with Card, and JP, if you want to split hairs, Elmers asking for the best/second best MOLD, not particular model..

Re: What are the best 1/72 Corgi "Biggies?"

Elmer,
I agree with the guys here that the Lanc is technically the best. Pappy's right, no ugly gap issues from any I've ever seen. I've been lucky with my B-17 as none have gap issues. My 24's are also very nice too! My favorite is the 909 B-17, although it's very close for the Sentimental Journey (pretty.....shinny.....), the BOL, M-Belle and Mount N Ride......love 'em all!

My personal favorite 2 engine is the "Bats Outa Hell".....also very...shinny....pretty.... Just something about those bare metal planes!

Yes, best MOLD, not models.

I think their Wellington and Catalina are two pretty impressive molds.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: What are the best 1/72 Corgi "Biggies?"

4 Engine - the Lancaster is clearly the best.. the B17 and B24 are equal due to gap and joint line issues
2 Engine - He 111 then the B-25

Revising my opinion on the 2 engine planes. I think the PBY-5A is the best 2 engine mold!

I understand your reasoning but the PBY Catalina is the size of the four engined 'heavies' - perhaps it should stand in a category all by itself as it is truly superb .

Re: What are the best 1/72 Corgi "Biggies?"

I agree with most of the others here at the forum - the Lancaster represents the best four-engined Corgi mold thus far, closely followed by the B-24 mold.

As for two-engined bomber molds, I think the Heinkel and B-25 take the cake(s).
