Re: Corgi Sunderland (48801)

I admit the original stand pitched the model every which way. Not the best of designs. However, does the Legends stand accomodate the body insert of your model.?....It wont bank like it did before. With the block insert, but, it doesn't fall of the stand either. Should you take a liking to other 48 series, the same situation will apply.

I can see what you and Smartd are saying about the block insert Swoop ( thanks for reminding me of checking for an extra stand Smartd - I have a Wellie parked on the ground and will give the stand a try). The Legends stand should work shouldn't it? It's the same mold and the fuselage looks the same in the Tri pics. Only thing is that it's only an inch or two in "flight."

The only other Sundi I would love to snag is AA31701 which has the same awful two-piece insert. Using Tri's site as a guide, it doesn't look like the insert changed to a one-piece plug until the following version - AA31702.

If anyone has a 31701 they want to sell...

Re: Corgi Sunderland (48801)

I just received an MIB Corgi Sunderland (48801) which was the first release of the model in 1999. What I thought was odd about this first release was how Corgi mounted the model on the stand for "in-flight" display. The stand arm has a solid point (I won't say nipple) to which you attach the plug which fits into the bottom of the model. The weird thing is that the plug comes in two separate pieces for assembly (and you get two pairs of each side in the box!). My only other Sunderland was the "Black Peter" version (which I stupidly sold a few years ago) which didn't have this type of set-up.

I'm sure glad Corgi went past this phase quickly.

BTW, the model is nice too!

Black 6 - if you are looking at replacing "Black Peter" I got mine from Perry's for only $34-95, they still show stock. Whilst it's unlikely, if I ever decide to sell my Norwegian Sunderland i'll give you first offer.

Take it out and play with it

This sound like the crazy set up i have for my Corgi AA31304 C-130 stand using all these little plastic pieces ...I hated the way it fit so i used another Corgi stand from the USCG C-130 it had the solid plug and it works much better.

Talking Re: Corgi Sunderland (48801)

I don't care what they look like, I want one to replace my original, boyhood, Airfix model which got mashed in a removal many moons ago. I was dead proud of it. It cost me 10/6 ( ten and six=52.5 pence ) and was the most expensive plane in the series.

Happy days !

Thank you for the info 11SQNLDR. I really appreciate the first chance at the Norwegian Sundy should you decide to sell it.
