Re: Using Existing Corgi Molds To Best Effect

I'd like to see a 303rd BG B-17 in 1:72nd scale. Maybe "Hell's Angels" or "The Duchess"... or even "The Hunting Club" would be cool. Do one with the twin .50's sticking out of the front of the plexi-glass nose. Or a YB-40, the heavily armed escort version of the B-17 with an extra top-turret and twin .50 cals in both of the waist gunner's positions. Picture of the 2 below... YB-40 on far right, B-17 with twin .50's in the nose to the left of it:

And I too wish they would do an 8th AF B-24. I would also like to see the Navy version of the B-24. It looked really cool for a sub-hunter and was really heavily armed like the YB-40.

The YB-40, the heavily armed escort version would make for a real neat looking model. I like the extra turret.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Ya, the YB-40's were the first B-17's to employ the chin turret and its success at deterring the frontal attacks that most Luftwaffe squadrons employed. The YB-40 is the reason that late-model B-17's were equipped with the chin turret.

The YB-40 "Tampa Tornado" that was assigned to the 303rd BG would be a very cool addition to Corgi's heavy bomber collection.

I agree, it would make a real slick addition to the Corgi heavies.
