Re: Using Existing Corgi Molds To Best Effect

Is there any chance that you might get hired as a product advisor for Corgi?

No, he'll be competent at his job

Regards,

Sergey

Funny. I do a lot of consulting in my area of expertise---advertising/media--- and all too often" the problem "is the client, himself. Hmmm? I guess that's probably the case with the old Corgi "brain trust",isn't it?

Here are a few more Bf 109E paint schemes.

Those would certainly add some colour to our collections, I like them.

They would definitely standout in a collection. I do like the Corgi Bf 109 mold and sure would like to see them put out some of these lesser know paint schemes.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Cannon or bomb armed Hurricane.
Twin blade Belgian Hurricane/Irish Air Corps
Rocket armed Hurricane.
Mosquito 57MM Molins anti ship aircraft.
B-25 Mitchell with 75 MM anti tank/ship gun.

The above are just a few of the myriad possibilities that would not tax Corgi/Hornby too much IMHO.

Good choices, and these might be given some thought too.

Hurricane twelve gun variant
Spitfire Mk.I with two bladed prop
Bf 109E fighter Bomber (Packing a Bomb for change)

Re: Using Existing Corgi Molds To Best Effect

Found a couple of neat Bf 109 pictures. Definitely not the normal paint schemes.

Re: Using Existing Corgi Molds To Best Effect

This indeed would be the way to revive the AA range - use what they have first, and get some decent, appealing schemes out first. One that springs to mind for me is a Belgian Gloster Gladiator. The Glad may not be the most obvious cast for new releases, given the quality issues and the cost of the model, which probably is more expensive to produce than other AAs. But there's a number of really cool schemes out there that would warrant a release - the Belgian one is one I like, but they might also do a regular (non-silver and non-diorama) Finnish one. In sensible runs these could do pretty well, I think. Unfortunately, the most obvious thing for them would be to do more BoB releases, but I think we have quite enough of those Spitfires, 109s and Hurricanes already. Still, whatever gets the numbers up, I guess.

The Kondor Legion is an appealing option, even if they might not be completely accurate (although some people would completely burn them over this). A 109 and Stuka in these colours shouldn't be too much work, and if these are received well, this opens up the tantalizing prospect of a He 111 (not sure how many mods would be required for that) and a Ju 52! Now, I'd definately make space for that!

A Begium Gladiator would be a pretty neat choice and would make for an interesting paint scheme. I wouldn't mind seeing some in Norwegian, Ireland and Finnish markings (Have the Swedish volunteer group in Finnish markings.). Squadron in Action series for the Gladiator has quite a few nations using the Gladiator.

Re: Using Existing Corgi Molds To Best Effect

I'd like to see a 303rd BG B-17 in 1:72nd scale. Maybe "Hell's Angels" or "The Duchess"... or even "The Hunting Club" would be cool. Do one with the twin .50's sticking out of the front of the plexi-glass nose. Or a YB-40, the heavily armed escort version of the B-17 with an extra top-turret and twin .50 cals in both of the waist gunner's positions. Picture of the 2 below... YB-40 on far right, B-17 with twin .50's in the nose to the left of it:

And I too wish they would do an 8th AF B-24. I would also like to see the Navy version of the B-24. It looked really cool for a sub-hunter and was really heavily armed like the YB-40.
