Re: Hornby to buy Corgi

I can only say WOW!!!!! This is really really really good news!!!!!! Next to diecast planes I also collect model trains. If Hornby has the same intentions with Corgi as it had with the model train brands Lima, Jouef and Rivarossi, we can expect higher quality!!! Those brands produce models to much higher standards now than before. Canīt wait to see what Hornby does with Corgi!!!

The Hornby locomotives definitely have a high degree of detail, maybe some of this will be extended to the Corgi line. I did not know that they had picked up the Lima line of trains. I stick with Marklin myself.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Hornby to buy Corgi

I just don't get who buys all these Batman items. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I've never seen one and I don't really think it's that popluar here.

Am I nuts?

I haven't either, parsig......'course, I hadn't been aware of diecast aircraft either untill I happened to stumble upon a few Corgi Legends at a local hardware store, looked up Corgi's website, found MH I, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Wal Mart has a fair selection of Corgi Batman cars.

Ooohh .... Oohhh .... oooohh . . .

I know it's premature, but just had a Hornby/Corgi combo diecast fantasy pop into my head!

1/72 scale diorama => late 1944 German (Hornby) locomotives in northern European railstation being hit with missiles by (Corgi) P-47 Thunderbolts and/or Hawker Typhoons!

OOOOHHHH . . . I'm droolin' . . .

Re: Hornby to buy Corgi

I'll hope Corgi made better model that the last they made, and raise the level of detail to the HM and CW benchmark,I'v been bought some corgi model but since HM and CW come on the market .....the corgy model look like toy!
I'll really hope corgi make a response to the new concurrence and give us some models at the level of CW and the diversity and level of HM.

I would also like to see some improvement in the Corgi line, but lets not forget they do have some really fine pieces. Hard to find alot of fault with their Swordfish, Gladiators and Wellingtons to name a few.

It's right for these planes I agree but I would like to see this level on ALL corgi products specially jet.
