ME 109e Trop

Hi chaps, I like the Corgi 109e.The other day i bought the CHC 10th Anniversary Ober Ludwig Franszisket JG 27 North Africa Trop 109e/7.One small question for any of you.Why is the plane painted in European grays and not the desert yellows and greens i would expect for a desert combat plane?.
Thanks.

Re: ME 109e Trop

There were actually two versions. One being the desert paint scheme, and the other being the camo. The desert paint scheme is the more limited of the two, I think 500 compared to 1250 of the camo. Did it come with the cert? Also you can check out tricatus website for more info.

Re: ME 109e Trop

I have come across a few photos of Bf 109Es in north Africa sporting a mix of European and desert paint schemes. I have this one and it is a pretty nice looking Corgi 109E.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: ME 109e Trop

Planes were often transferred from one theatre to the next and there wasn't always time to repaint them. You'll see this with armor also, but it is more noticeable with planes.

Sundowner, the eastern camo is what it looked like before its livery was over painted to the desert camo. I have both models, and must confess having the eastern camo in my case is quite redundant.

Haven't as yet displayed it.
