Tempted by Corgi B-17...need help

Came across the Tricatus pics on the B-17 "Nine o Nine" US33309. Really like the flighline crew and presentation of this bomber. BUT - looking at one of the pics of the starboard / right front...there is a godawful join you can see daylight through. I can't find one local to check out...for those that have seen it or have this model...is the "real-life" join that bad. Everything else on this model (except props - no stencils & rear gunner station - looks too large) is fairly good.

I've been holding off on the Corgi US heavies because the few I looked at in the past looked clumsy (for lack of a better word) and partially executed. But after finding this site and tricatus site I've reviewed the entire line and find a few B-17s and B-24s that are "attractive". Also looking at Ball o Fire Ploesti B-24...

Pic from Tricatus.co.uk (if direct link is a problem let me know and will remove):

Is it my imagination, or does it look like there is a dog sitting in the nose section?

Go for it! I love all seven B-17's I own and I'd get more if Corgi comes out with some cool liveries. The Nine o Nine is one of Corgi's nicer heavies. You won't be sorry! Oh yeah, don't forget to pick up a few Liberators.....there are some really nice ones.

Yeap, that's the corgi dog that use to come with every Corgi piece. Tricatus puts the dog in every pic. On the original model hanger, he use to hide it, and the members had to search for it. With the gap in this B-17, he may of removed it to place the dog in it. Just my two cents.

I thought it was just my eyes playing tricks on me. It sure does look like there is a pooch in that Corgi.

Re: Tempted by Corgi B-17...need help

FlyingScot, if you can get your hands on one, grab Strawberry Bitch, 376th BG, Benghazi, Libya (AA34003). She’s a real looker. Or if not that one, the RAF Coastal Command B-24D is a hot number, too (AA34005).

Both are hard to come by, but they’re definitely worth it.

If those don’t do it, try Booby Trap, the B-24J. That’s definitely a winner. They're all great looking ships.

It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

Re: Tempted by Corgi B-17...need help

If I could find Strawberry Bitch for something less than $170 I'd be sorely tempted, saw one once at the local hobby shop and do think that one is close to the best B-24. Think the B-24D with glazed nose and no turret looks best which is why the Ploesti ships are in contention for 1/3 of the price of the SB. Thanks for the feedback.
