Re: Swordfish In!?

These were not on my list to get.
But after looking at it and see it's a real work of art.
I ordered one and maybe the other one as well.
If you can get it on a stand i'll take it.

Re: Swordfish In!?

I cant wait to get my hands on the float one. However
I hope, say my swordfish takes a dive, (yes I pilot my planes sometimes) and then ascends abruptly , that the wings will not fold under the increased G's.
And then that they fold at bad moments such as in sharp turns.

The fold system seems pretty solid. It has metal pins, which seem to seat up securely. Over time I have dropped a few of my Corgi's and found them to be quite tough (Tip: Dragon P-51's don’t fare so well) The Swordfish DOES NOT fall into this category! For goodness sake don’t drop this one or you will be sad I'm guessing... And watch those high G turns there Fileasfog!

Oh now that's just cruel! If it gave backrubs I'd be in real trouble. A must have for sure. Funny how there's so many of those.

Re: Swordfish In!?

Imagine flying along in a Swordfish out over the Atlantic and you just happen to glance at the locking pin that holds the wing in place and to your horror you see it is slowly working its way out!!!! This did really happen once. The navigator had to go out on the wing and push the thing back in fix the retaining clip back in place...

Re: Swordfish In!?

The next few months look to be quite expensive for me in regard to this little hobby. I have both of the first two Swordfish on order (one in now, the other next week) and plan to buy the floatplane version.

Add to this the RAF PBY (on order - due next week) and the Wellington as mentioned in another thread (also here - all are waiting for the two models due next week to ship).

I think I'll have to work as Xmas season help at Target to help pay for this stuff!
