Re: Swordfish In!?

Harry,
Hey there. Thanks for the update.

Okay, first and probably only gripe. How can you not display this Stringbag in flight, torpedo slung, meancingly bearing down on the Bismark? Bad, bad Corgi for not giving us that option.

Oh, you know its a "give-n-take" situation... Could've been like the Sardinia HE-111 and NOT give us a torpedo at all...

All I can say though is.... " I GOT MINE!!!" And I am very happy with it...

Re: Swordfish In!?

I have to agree with djjeffhall. It's a bit disappointing that the old stringbag can't be displayed flying with the torpedo.

Even the ones I've seen flying in the UK still carry dummy torpedos. I guess we have to give and take like Harry says.

Fact remains, its an awesome model! Now where's that carrier deck from that Corsair diorrama?

Cool Re: Swordfish In!?

Perhaps we can convince someone to do a 1/72 scale Bismarck to accompany the Swordfish .

Absolutely Wicked Cardinal!!! The Bismarck would probably need its own garage! Very, very neat idea.

Now I thought those two ugly yellow things were the torpedoes!

Re: Swordfish In!?

Hey there folks.

Let me say that I was 90% joking with the Stringbag in flight comment. Yeah, I was kinda hoping that Corgi might give us a stand that allowed us to display it torpedo armed, but I didn't really think they would their methods to accommodate us.

I'm just glad the plane has finally shown up and has two wings.

Re: Swordfish In!?

I was sitting at my desk and looked up at my John Dibbs Flying legends calendar and realized the subject for September is the very same as one of the Swordfish Corgi is releasing, AA36302 Fairey Swordfish MK.I - W5856,
No. 810 Sq., Royal, 1939.

According to the calendar's legend, W5856 is the oldest surviving example of a Swordfish. Have not seen the model yet in person but the real deal looks great and it sure looks like Crgi got it right as far as livery is concerned.

Re: Swordfish In!?

Just received a shipping confirmation from Martin. It's on it's way, I preordered this one shortly after the 2nd half catalog came out.

Re: Swordfish In!?

I hope so too- have multiple versions on pre-order.

I'd feel better if the seller had a photo of the box or the model, not just the same corgi issued image everyone has had for six months.

I was notified today that my Swordfish would be in my hands next week. My supplier has always been up-front with me and I expect to be opening the UPS box by October 6, at the latest.

Wink Re: Swordfish In!?

Bismarck schmizmarck they only winged its rudder, though to good effect. The swordfish waxed a few Italian BB's and cruisers first at Taranto! Taught the world about shallow water torpedo attacks and gave the Japanese Admiral Yamamoto a really big idea!
