Re: Swordfish In!?

Is it my imagination, or does that rear gunner (at least) actually look like a real person in appropriate aviation gear, etc?

Re: Swordfish In!?

It does look good, doesn't it. Welll worth the wait I hope.
did this particular swordfish sink the bismark?

The Swordfish (that Corgi's effort was modelled after) in question was part of the attack that crippled the Bismarck, damaging her steering so that she couldn't escape to friendly waters, and was eventually sunk by the several ships from the Royal Navy.
The whole Bismarck story is quite exciting, a brief overview of the happenings is available at Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_battleship_Bismarck), and I have to recommend the classic 1960 movie "Sink the Bismarck!" starring Kenneth More and Dana Wynter. Great stuff!

A very good movie It's amazing they flew these old stringbags into that fire. Those guys had a lot of guts!

Re: Swordfish In!?

I have a pair of questions folks.

1) Does the torpedo come off the bird, or is it permanently attached?

2) What does the stand looks like? Can you present the plane flying with the torpedo?

I apologize if these topics were covered elsewhere and I missed them.

Thanks!

From what I hear, yes the torpedo comes off, no, you can't display it on the stand with the torpedo slung..

Re: Swordfish In!?

I ordered this a long time ago and it is tied to a Gentile Spitfire order too so I guess I get a surprise soon.

Don't forget the targets are my airfields, Leigh-Mallory, and you're not getting fifty, you're not even getting ten.

I did the same but I tied it with the catapult Swordfish and a couple other October pre-orders so I'll have a bit of a wait. It looks fantastic though and I can't wait to see the catapult version as well.

Re: Swordfish In!?

Harry,
Hey there. Thanks for the update.

Okay, first and probably only gripe. How can you not display this Stringbag in flight, torpedo slung, meancingly bearing down on the Bismark? Bad, bad Corgi for not giving us that option.
