Re: UPS dropped off Two Bf 109s and a Hurricane.

One the Tricatus looks the same as the one I have and it to is minus the antenna. Not sure which way it is supposed to be, but still looks pretty good.

There is a note at the bottom of the first page of the Tricatus page that states the following:

Re: UPS dropped off Two Bf 109s and a Hurricane.

Strange. I have the Corgi model described as Marseille's plane also. It sports an antenna. Also, the little card that comes in the box describes the plane as belonging to 1 Gruppe of JG 27, a unit famed and at one time named for Lt. Hans Joachim Marseille, who flew "yellow 14", while the model in question is referred to as "white 8". Huh?Better get my glasses checked again. Isn't the plane in the box a "black 8"?

"Yellow 14" was a BF-109F-4, not an E-7. According to Wikipedia.org, Marseille flew three different BF-109E-7's in the Tobruk area between April 20-23, 1941. It's possible that one of these models is the plane Corgi modelled.

What's interesting here is that both of these models bear a striking resemblence to each other. Is it possible that both Marseille and Schroer flew the same aircraft while part of JG27?

Good score CC. Did you get the Townsend figure as well?

Was there supposed to be a figure with this one? Only thing in the box was landing gear and the display stand.

Looked at mounting point through a jewelers loupe and looks like this one might have come minus the antennal. All the other Corgi 109s have the antenna in so well that I think there might be some marring if you tried to remove the antenna.

I get what you meant now. I picked up the earlier Townsend Hurricane, but sure would like to get the 50th Anniversary model with the figure and base..

Re: UPS dropped off Two Bf 109s and a Hurricane.

You're the bugger who outbid me for those!! I recognize them from their lack of the aerial mast. They look nice, I'm hoping to snag a different Marseilles that's on the bay right now. Can you post pics of the Marseilles next to a Schroer (if you have that one) to compare the liveries? Thanks.

That Marseilles Bf 109 went pretty high today.

Re: UPS dropped off Two Bf 109s and a Hurricane.

We has this out years ago on MHI fellas. Corgi dropped the ball. The first 109 is not Marseille's it's Schroer's for sure. We have no idea why they released two of nearly the same plane, maybe to correct the name error. I just ignore the box and cert printing and accept I have a nice Schroer. This is just another of a million situations that demonstrates what a crying shame it is that we lost all those threads and posts.

That it did. Once it was over $50.00, I figured it wasn't worth it to me. For what it went for, I could get another 1/32 109 around that price (including shipping) or another Carousel 1 bird. Oh well. I'm eyeballing picking up either a Corgi Ju 88 (any thoughts on these or where to get one for a decent price?) or a Hobby Master Bf 110 (without the radar antennae). Any opinions on either of these?

I thought they both looked eerily similar. In lieu of the "Marseilles", I picked up a Schroer for just over $24 and free shipping. I just wished it had the red and white spinner hub.

Bidding did go high on that one for sure. I do most of my on line deicast purchases through Pete's Collectibles, but there are quite a few options out there.
