P-47D Thunderbolt - I like it!

I just received a Corgi Legends P-47D Thunderbolt today. I got AA33808 - "Harriet" from the 65th FW with the D-Day invasion stripes. Got it off ebay for a great low price. I was leary that I wasted my money especially since I've got four of Dragon's really beautiful P-47s. Let's say that I was really pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. While the model was pretty plain as far a detailing goes, I am impressed by the mold's accuracy. I took it to my studio (my porch where I do my art work) and did a simple customizing job to "spruce" the model up. I repainted the famous "puke" green that Corgi is so enamoured with with a more accurate flat olive drab. Painted the propeller black - don't know why Corgi used silver, but the black looks better. Then I used some silver to add wear and tear. Looks really sharp! I just bought a couple more Corgi razorback P-47s, so I'm a happy camper.

Here's some pictures of my new addition:

I've got a Harriet and she is a fine lass. Great value in a diecast as I only paid 15 or so bucks for it.

Beautiful job Trap. I looked at Tricatus' site to see what Harriet looked like out of the box, and I must say yours looks amazing. Olive Drab looks great and the black prop stands out.

How did you repaint the Olive Drab around the rudder numbers as well as around Harriet on the fuselage? I have an extra Mahurin p-47 that I want to try to change.

A very thin brush and a steady hand. Actually, I painted the O.D. around the "Harriet" and rudder numbers. If you looked at my model really close, you would see some of the original color. The colors are close enough to "blend" pretty well. For the aircraft i.d. codes, national insignia, and canopy frames I just painted carefully around them. I've got to admit it - this model really goes well with my o.d. P-51s.

Re: P-47D Thunderbolt - I like it!

Its a nice model by Corgi and on ebay one can be bought for around £7.

I prefer Dragons efforts to Corgi on this plane but Corgis are pretty good.

Nice job you did there Trap, you certainly made it into a cool model.

God Bless America.
