warbirds stuka

Well I just got my warbirds rudel stuka and, although there are no pilots inside and no swastika I absolutely love it! Paint is very nice.
I was wondering if anyone knew what the insignia on the front meant?
It is blue and red features red mountains and a cross with 2 branches.
Looks like the cross of the french underground of course that would be absurd.

It would not be that absurd since that cross is called " croix de Lorraine " . The Alsace and Lorraine were the parts between France and germany that have been bitterly fought over for 3 wars. It is not surprising that both sides might have used that symbol. It is just an educated guess, I might be totally wrong.

Re: warbirds stuka

Re: warbirds stuka

Not being well versed in Rudel's career can someone tell me where this particular Stuka would have served? Curious about the theater and the approximate date.

Re: warbirds stuka

I read his book, you could seperate it in two: the regular stuka era and the tank buster era. I assume the warbird version, without the two antitank canons is from the beginning of the war.
He fought on all the fronts except Africa I believe.

It's the emblem of III/St.G2

See here for a great website listing Luftwaffe emblems by symbols used.

Re: warbirds stuka

My little nephew just came over this morning and gave me a Warbirds Stuka.
It's the first Warbirds i ever got and it seems pretty nice.
No pilot when i got it...But it does now...
Put the little Swazi decal on the tail and it looks great.
