Re: Did you ever....

Did you ever pre-order something so long ago that when it shows up you wonder where it came from exactly?

So, has this ever happened to you? At least I can honestly tell the missus I don't remember ordering them.

Meanwhile, several Thousand-beers later, as the next batch is due to arrive................( )

Too true, Hornchurch, too true!!! I know I've had an order of two result from a night of tossing back a few with the boys and then surfing the web - BIG MISTAKE!!!

Cool Re: Did you ever....

I'm one of those that also keep an Excel spreadsheet going of what I own and what I have ordered. That has not stopped me over the last 3 years from acquiring about three dozen "doubles". Sometimes I go nuts and place a huge order for stuff that I don't have that's available and some that is on pre-order (this could be the influence of my wife having gone to bed and consumption of multiple beers on my part). Now this is gets me into trouble with "doubles". I wind up contacting TFM or The Tigers Den and buggging them about where the items are. Both of them are very courteous in their replys (they don't tell me they think their dealing with a moron) when they explain that some items in my order have not arrived yet. Some orders take so long for the pre-order stuff to become available, that when I see another vendor has something in stock I can't resist orsering it from them also. So, I have a boat load on duplicate models in boxes I have never even opened, and will someday have to find a way to dispose of all in one big lump (I don't want to go through a month long hassle with eBay of packaging and shipping and tracking stuff I'm getting rid of). I've even given some of the nicer pieces to friends as gifts, rather than scrounge the last dime for them off of eBay and go through all of the procedures. Heck I can barely put up with PayPal, but it's still better as the alternative is, US Postal Money Orders wich is a real drudgery.

I don't believe I've ever told you how much I value your friendship, dboulais. Until you joined the forum I wasn't quite certain there was any intelligent life on the entire planet but your lucid comments and acerbic wit have helped me weather the storm of despair. Once again, thank you for sharing your gift of intelligence and well reasoned logic.

PS I can send you the dates of my birthday, wedding anniversary, first tooth, insurance premium reduction etc in case you are at a loss for my personal "special days" which may warrant a gift.
