Just hit a Corgi mother lode today!

Today was a very good day, no it was a great day. My son and I went to visit the HAMM (Historic Aviation Memorial Museum) museum at the Pounds Field in Tyler today, and I found some pretty interesting pieces in their gift shop. They had some really nice Corgi pieces and as soon as I saw the prices, well I just had to pick a few up. For the most part I think I got some pretty good deals. Here are the models I snapped up.

Corgi AA33503 Boeing B-52D Stratofortress 56-0689 American Air Museum, Duxford $60.00
Corgi AA99110 DH Mosquito PR MkIV & Supermarine Spitfire PRVII Type G $40.00
Corgi 49505 Battle of Britain Dogfight Set Scale Spitfire Mk.I BF 109E $40.00
Corgi 49005 N31383/KL-B 'Kiwi' - Plt Off Alan Deere Supermarine Spitfire MkI Scale $20.00
Corgi 49205 Oblt. Franz von Werra Messerschmitt Bf109E-4 Scale $20.00
Corgi 49202 JG26 'SCHLAGETER' Adolf Galland Messerschmitt Bf-109E $20.00
Corgi AA32101 (Wespen Geschwader) Messerschmitt Bf109E-4/B $20.00
Corgi AA32503 Ju-87B-2 Stab II/STG Eastern Front $20.00

Finally snagged a Bf 109 with a wasp on the cowling! There were still quite a few Corgi planes there when I left, but felt I had done enough damage for one day. He also had the Corgi B-52C Carswell at $100.00, but said if I wanted it he would knock it down to $60.00. Probably go back in a couple of weeks and snap that one up too. When I first started stacking models up on the counter, one of the volunteers looked at me like I was a bit nuts, but another volunteer started laughing and said "Nope, he knows he is getting a pretty good deal.". This same worker let me into the back store room and that is when I found the Corgi Bf 109s, only left one (Already had it). They also had the AA32502 Ju87R-2 and AA32504 Ju-87B-2 Tropical Stukas (Already have them, but still might go back and snag them too.). The volunteer who was selling them said he had some more and if I bought enough he would even cut some more slack in the prices. I asked him to look for a few pieces that I was interested in and I would be back in a couple of weeks. All in all it was a real fun day.

Awesome deals... truly awesome. You don't want to know how hard it was for me to find 49202 & AA32101 and how much I paid for them when I did find 'em!

Lucky fella

How's the dogfight set? I have a lead on one and I wanted to know if it's worth spending a bit of extra coin on.

It was a fun day! I was not sure how good a deal I got on the B-52 until I got home and did some snooping online. I had seen a few before running at $90.00 at another museum I was at, so thought that $60.00 was pretty fair deal.

Perry's has the Buff for close to that...it's a great model and a very good deal for sure. But the amazing deals I think are those HTF 109s...

Just opened the box to take a closer look, but have to say the dogfight set is a nice looking set. I am always looking to add another Corgi Bf 109E and the one in this set looks good. I think it was you who posted some photos of your Wespen Bf 109E awhile back, and I thought my chances of finding one where pretty slim. It sure felt like being a kid in a candy store today.

Re: Just hit a Corgi mother lode today!

Yeppers... I recently posted pics of my Bf 109s. I have more coming, but the wasp is one of the best so far.

Dangit... now that I've taken a closer look at the von Werra Bf 109 I'm sorely tempted to hunt it down.

Good on ya Cruver!

It was a crazy fun day! I was blown away by the Bf 109Es and just snapped them up. I have seen folks on this forum posting some photos of some of these and never thought I might get chance to add some of these to my collection. I now have 11 Corgi Bf 109Es, have to clear some more shelf space, time to make a couple of Bf 109 shelves.
