Re: Just hit a Corgi mother lode today!

Nice Haul CC!! I sure would love to get the wespen and Von Werra 109's two of the best schemes that Corgi has made and at those prices?? Are you sure you weren't wearing a mask??

Hard to believe a that both came out of a small museum gift shop and were still back in the storage room. If the fellow who was working the counter had not mentioned that there were more models in the back, I would have missed out on the Bf 109s. I never though that I would ever pickup these models, and difinitely not at that kind of a price. This is the model I saw that was on top and all the other Bf 109s were underneath. Couple of the ones I did not pickup (Will pickup on my next visit if they are still there) were an AA31901 No 276 Air-Sea Rescue Squadron SupermarineSpitfire Mk.IIC, AA33002 "White 29", Ira C Kepford, VF-17 Vought Corsair F4U-1A, AA33003 JT172, No. 1835 Squadron, Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Vought Corsair 1, and the AA32103
Waldemar Wubke, 9/JG 54 "Grunherz"
Messerschmitt Bf109E-3
(Already have this one). There were also several P-51s and some smaller scale Lancasters but did not look as hard as I should have.Fellow said he had some more Corgi pieces, and I told him I would be back in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I might be able to turn up some more nice pieces, but quite happy with what I have found so far.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Just hit a Corgi mother lode today!

Thanks again for the pics, CC. I feel better about the Battle of Britain dogfights set that I just picked up on eBay for a bit more than you paid. The two look great, and considering the high production number of the set, I wouldn't hesitate to get them both out for display with the rest of my Spits & Bf 109s

Congrats on getting the Battle of Britain set. Both the planes look great and I have mine sitting on the shelf already. Just noticed it but I now have three Spitfire Mk.Is. Have the two Mk.is I picked up yesterday and 49001 Adolf "Sailor" Malan's Spitfire. With a grand total of 5 Corgi Spitfires, I guess it is time to put some focus on expanding my Corgi Spitfire selection.

It is pretty shameful. As much as I like the Spitfire, think that I would have picked up more along the way. When I go back in a couple of weeks and they still have the AA31901 Air-Sea Rescue Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IICI will definitely pick it up.

Re: Just hit a Corgi mother lode today!

Although I don't really collect 109's you got yourself some gems I wouldn't mind finding myself (for those prices too...!)
Neither do I collect Mosquito's and Spitfires, but the recon set is one I really want to add to my collection. I like sets like these and the Mosquito's livery is really great and the Spit's, well, that's just drôle...

Can we try with real bullets now?

Yep, a pink Spitfire, definitely an interesting paint scheme.
