Re: Most 1st Half Corgi now showing as JULY

I have to say I think we will be lucky to see them at all.

IMHO - The current economic climate does not bode well for corgi, as all their sales are made via peoples discretionary income. Alway the first thing to get slashed.

I know for a fact that my budget has been slashed to just about zero for the foreseeable future. There's just too many other demand on my income, and in the current climate extending my credit cards further just doesn't cut it. That sum needs to be coming down not up. - I'm sure I'm not alone.

Ooops!

Just keep my fingers crossed and hope to see something from Corgi by fall.

I have to agree with timbo. A company can't go months on end without selling product, and I think the Corgi is in a tailspin. More than anything else, I think the Hobby Master business model knocked them off. Same with GeminiAces...haven't seen any action there, either. Too bad, because I preferred Corgi over any other maker. Witty survives with volume, cheap boxing, and targeting the youth market.

I know HM has been releasing models. Which of the other companies are releasing any new models, let alone repaints?

Century, Easy Model, Witty, Franklin, IXO, GeminiJets, GeminiAces, Dragon...all are producing at least repaints, so why can't Corgi follow suit? I can't understand Corgi's reluctance to do what's needed to get back on track...is it funding, or poor management?

Has Gemini Aces or Dragon put out any new WWII aircraft repaints? I know Dragon had two Fw 190s progged for March, but nothing so far.

Re: Most 1st Half Corgi now showing as JULY

I think all the companies are watching their dollar signs now days....
If they feel it's a risk they won't make it and the next thing you know it's canceled.
Right now i'm not too surprised at whats going on due to how the economy is all over the world right now.
Right now i'm just thankful for what i have got so far from these big die-cast companies.

Re: Most 1st Half Corgi now showing as JULY

Unfortunately, Corgi seems to have a history of announcing models and then cancelling them. I was really looking forward to the 1/144th scale Cathay Pacific 707 a few years ago. It was one of the ones cancelled that year.

GeminiAces has been even deader than Corgi, and for a longer time. Both have been on my personal death watch since last November or so...

OK, What's the HM business model? Just asking -- the back-end side of the diecast model business is murky to me.

Nrrrm! Whoosh! Rat-tat-tat!
