| Corgi Release Delay I found this on one of the U.K. websites. "All Corgi releases should be taken as stalled until further firm notice is issued. We are waiting on firm confirmation (rather than wild rumour) as to exactly what is going on. There has been no official info out of Corgi in the past 10 days whatsoever, except to say that the 2007 releases that should have come out w/c 3rd March, then w/c 10th March are stuck. We understand they are in the UK but that the stock has not reached C S Ellis, Corgi's distribution partner. It is also notable that restocks don't seem to be being shipped by C S Ellis - at least not stuff we've ordered anyway. During this awkward period, because Corgi isn't giving out (officially) a firm reason for these delays, the rumour mill is growing daily. Some of the stories we've heard would make your toes curl (and your milk curdle). Corgi and Cards Inc would be well advised to issue a statement to their dealers that we can pass on that actually explains the truth behind recent problems - particularly why it is that they are dumping a specific run of limited edition models that are under a month old to one of the key "market stall" wholesalers, when we have been repeatedly told that they will not do this. All 2008 releases are now going to be AT LEAST 4 months late, if we see them this six months at all. Remaining 2007 releases, there is a batch that's been made but confirmation of actual release is sketchy. Anything beyond that is looking rather vague to put it mildly." I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens here. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Corgi Release Delay My Bf 110C better not take TOO long or there'll be trouble ![]() Seriously, new as I am to Corgi, even I know to expect this sort of thing. The only reason I haven't suffered from angst from delayed releases is that I've been playing catch-up and I've only now just started looking at their new releases... | |||||||||||||

| Re: Corgi Release Delay I've said it before but it bears repeating. Until Corgi regains control over the production process for its products, this kind of thing will happen again and again. It's a sure fire business wrecker. Obviously, with China turning into an unreliable manufacturing base with hidden agendas, Corgi must consider whether it can get its replicas, toys and other items made elsewhere---even if costs increase as it moves away from slave labor factories to those with more conventional and responsible operations. One wonders, how long it will take for Corgi and others to develope a new business model which rationalizes higher production costs with more realitic product selections. The sensible approach calls for a blending of lower cost mass produced models coupled with more selective lines of higher quality and higher priced "collector's pieces". If the bottom feeders and bargain hunters wont buy the quality product, so be it. But the practise of dumping old product into a glutted market in periodic "panic" sales, coupled with chaotic production schedules for new models just doesn't make sense. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Corgi Release Delay Except for a handful of brick and mortar stores who sell Corgi most of their diecast is sold on the intranet. Cyberhobby had a good idea to sell factory direct but it failed because they didn't follow through with customer support services and their shipping price list was poorly setup. I never had any problems with Cyberhobby and the shipping wasn't more than I was already paying. Why sell to a wholesaler who then sells to websites each adding to the price along the way? Doesn't make sense to ship a boatload of diecast to the UK and States then sell it off cheap the next month, what's the point of doing that. Then Corgi releases the BOB set at 150 units only to see these show up on the intranet at 3 times the price. Why produce what you know will be a sought after release and then allow the secondary market to earn a higher profit margin than Corgi. If these diecast makers want to maximze their profits then sell factory direct, its 2008 not 1968! | |||||||||||||
