Re: Corgi Release Delay

As far as I recall, we haven't seen any pre-pros of the Beau from GJ, as we have the pre-pros of the Phantom and Skyraider. GJ certainly hasn't been saying much about the Beau either (I don't even recall if they ever straight-out stated that it was in the development pipeline).

I first heard this rumor via the UK forum. According to the guy or guys over there, Corgi backed off plans to do a Beaufighter when they learned that Gemini had it "in the works", or words to that effect.

Yeah -- I heard the same on DAF, then Gemini never did cough up the Beaufighter, and in the end neither did Corgi -- so nobody made one(HA!). I'm not too confidant we ever will in the foreseeable future (I'd love to be proven wrong, though!).

Re: Corgi Release Delay

... other than IXO though, right? Because they've already released a Beaufighter X in RCAF markings.

Not of the same quality as a Corgi or Gemini Aces releases, but it's out there

Re: Corgi Release Delay

Hope Corgi gets around to putting out a Bristol Beaufighter. I would sure like to see a torpedo armed variant, day fighter and a couple of night fighters too. How about one in paint scheme for service in the Pacific?

Re: Corgi Release Delay

Interestingly, I recently heard another rumor that suggested that once the Chinese sort out their production mess and finish with the big orders that they so favor, that "small fry'--to them--companies like Corgi, Gemini, Carousel, etc. may get back on the production schedules. Once again, I heard talk about a possible Beaufighter and Skyraider, along with other interesting planes I am not at liberty to name. So the outlook is not totally dark. However, none of this has changed my opinion that Corgi and other non-Chinese firms need to find a more reliable "production partner"or, better yet, set up their own production facility, perhaps in a cooperative venture.

Re: Corgi Release Delay

I could be wrong but I think Corgi did own their production facility but sold it a few years ago to raise money to pay down debt during a corporate restructuring.

HONG KONG--April 12, 2005--Zindart Limited (Nasdaq:ZNDT) today announced that it has retained Latitude Capital Group to seek a buyer for the company's manufacturing operating division, including a high volume, product design and turnkey production facility located in South China's pearl River Delta region.

Whether or it happened is another matter.

There was also a pre-pro of a Mk1 spit with a 2 blade prop. No sign, news or even vague rumor of this one for quite some time. Has the project been dropped??

I could go for 2 bladed prop Spitfire, and Hurricane too. Where did you come across the pre-pro Spit Mk.I info?

It was anounced at the same time as the Skyraider and the Phantom. There was even a model shown this time last year.
