Re: Phantom of the Rurh or RCAF Lancaster ??

Glad you concur about the Corgi Lancaster, Elmer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It never ceases to amaze me that it's one of Corgi's OLDEST 'Large' a/c & yet, they got it SO RIGHT from the start.

'Admiral Prune' certainly ain't common, so you're lucky to get it.

I was lucky enough last Friday to buy the Lanc's that I personally wanted the most.

A 'trader' that I'd met at Spalding Toyfair put an 'S'-Sugar to one side for me....... wasn't cheap - but it had never even been touched by human-hands before... having never been out of the box !!!!!!!!!

Was the 1st time I'd seen one ('S'-Sugar) in about 5 years !

I had planned to visit nearby Duxford museum, but as it was early afternoon, I decided to take the plunge & drive on down to London (I was already 2/3rds the way there !)........ that way, I could examine the actual "P.O.T.R"'s that I wanted to buy.

Chose TWO 'MINT' ones fresh out the box, so obviously was V.happy, but got 'collared' for the V.A.T. (shame).

Whilst waiting, noted that one of the TWO "P.O.T.R"'s in the (Bluewater) display-cabinet had it's 'Tail-Turret' glazing missing, so felt vindicated... having driving down there to check before buying (rather than resort to mail-order).

The Traffic was a Nightmare going South, toward London, but I arrived home happy !!!!!!!!!

Don't Imagine I'll see an "Admiral-Prune" anytime soon, so I'll wait (prob') another 5 years, till the next (interesting Lanc') comes along

Well HC, at least you didn't have to pay shipping! This is exciting for you! And for me! Greedy me, now I want another... oh boy, will this ever end????

Elmer, "hock your soul", if need be, BUT..... MAKE SURE YOU GET A "PHANTOM OF THE RUHR" whilst they're still available.

the finish/paint & markings are EXCELLENT
& now I've got 'em, I can see why the other lads on here were RAVING about it !

I'm totally mystified why more "F.N.50" (top-turret) equipped Lancaster models weren't released (by Corgi), or, (even) why they decided to 'scrap' AA.32613 ????????????
(they were the last RAF unit to use the Lancaster, in Maritime patrol, in 1956).

As I've said before, too-many Dambuster Lanc's around (for my liking), so the (Les Knight ?) next release won't "do it" for me.

If you're lucky enough to pick up ANY of the earlier Corgi Lancaster releases within the USA, grab the opportunity.

Seems like you guys over the Atlantic have an easier time of tracking them down (recently)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, HC. I think the models with the Nash & Thomson turret look best... toooooo . Unfortunately, these are hard to come by, unless one is willing to pay premium prices. I almost opted for the RCAF Lanc with the Martin turret, but at the last moment I relaxed the trigger, deciding in the long run I wouldn't be happy with it. Glad I did. I considered George, but the reverse camo scheme bothered me, and I didn't like the looks of the front turret with brown framing instead of black. Doesn't leave much left but Sugar, Moocher, Prune and Phantom.

I'm kinda liking the looks of the RCAF Resuce Lanc. That can still be had here stateside for decent money. You gotta stop tempting me with Phantom. I need Memphis Belle first, and I have a feeling I may have to pay for it (you know, the other jewel!)

POTR is a nice one to have for sure....But one thing i have notice as a collector on these Lancaster's you have to fork over some
good money for them too......and that takes time for many of us to do.....It took me a good 2 yrs before i got all the ones i wanted.

Re: Phantom of the Rurh or RCAF Lancaster ??

Hello Guys,

I have a question on the amount of time it takes to receive your Phantom of the Ruhr Lancaster after Modelzone charges your credit card?

That happen on June 12, 2008 and today is July 10.

I'm starting to get a little worried...

Does it take that long to reach you in the USA?

I am located in California.

Thank You

Globemaster

After I was charged for mine It took 2 weeks for the POTR to reach my door step. I to was a little worried since I was given a tracking number that can not be tracked on the internet. Did they ship Parcel Force?

Re: Phantom of the Rurh or RCAF Lancaster ??

I've had items from the UK take up to two months to arrive Globemaster. If it was shipped surface you may be waiting that long or more, depending on customs, prevailing winds, u-boats, etc..

Hello, I'm the guy who sits next to you and reads the newspaper over your shoulder.
Wait -
Don't turn the page, I'm not finished.
Life is so uncertain.
