Re: Phantom of the Rurh or RCAF Lancaster ??

For me the Phantom wins hands down. I just can't get by the Martin upper turret being in the wrong place on the RCAF MkX Lanc.

Yeah -- I struggle with that one too. The only consolation I can come up with is it is very close to the aircraft in operation today -- except, as you note, that turret is too far back. For the life of me, though, I don't know why they just didn't do the wartime service version. It sure would have been easier all around.

For me, though, I'd probably choose the Mynarski Lanc, just because it is down the road from me.

Hello All,

Just a little update on my POTR from Model Zone. The fantastic looking Lancaster was delivered today by the postman undamaged . The final total cost shipped to my door was £ 116.88 or $ 235.00 Canadian as promised by Croydon Model Zone in the U.K. they are people of there word.

My model is number 0017 of 1350 produced for which I am very happy about. So if you want one contact the Model Zone in Croydon and ask for Shawn. Good luck to all who want one.

Good luck to you A.A.

I can imagine numerous others on this board will follow your example (?)

£ 116 pounds 'all-in' from M.Z. in the U.K. - to your door in Canada sounds superb !!!!!!!!!!!

jeez, it costs £ 90 to walk into store & buy it.

My question to you (which I'm sure POTR fans wanna know) is........

How long did it take = from the day you bought it via your 'card'........ to day of delivery ??????

I dealt with the same guy (Shawn) and Sarah as well from the Croydon branch, and I managed to get the POTR & Malta Hurri for £146.40. The guys at that branch are swell to deal with! I'm glad you got yours in mint condition - I am expecting to receive mine tomorrow, according to the tracking. It was shipped on March 18th.

Angry Re: Phantom of the Rurh or RCAF Lancaster ??

Am I the only one in sticker shock! $ 235 is about double what you could buy a Lancaster for a year ago. That's a lot of moola guys. And it's not even 1/48 scale. I'm afraid to call Modelzone and have tell me what it will cost to ship a POTR to the States.

However, your total is obviously EXEMPT from the (Dreaded) V.A.T. that we get 'mugged-up' for, by our Government (thieves).

Not so fast HC
-- we also get taxed on goods shipped in and I doubt that will slip in under the radar. Our friend AA will likely get hit with our GST (5%) and his Province's PST. I'm not sure what it is in sunny Manitoba (Mmmm love that place!) but here in Ontario it is a glorious 8%. I would be paying 13% tax PLUS a Canada Customs Handling Fee that is usually just around $5. Close to your VAT which is around 17%, yes??

Now I guess the only good news he won't be paying both sets of taxes -- just one.

Re: Phantom of the Rurh or RCAF Lancaster ??

Mine came in today and although it did go through Customs, they didn't tax me on it or any of the other packages I received today from the UK and Ireland.

Much to my delight

Whoa-ho, lucky lad!!!
I've known the Customs guys to be a bit lenient on things coming in from the U.K. -- good job it wasn't coming from the states -- I ALWAYS get nailed from there. Still -- always hit 'n' miss. So -- when will you have photos for us??!!
