Axis Co-Belligerent aircraft paint schemes.

With Corgi as far as Axis aircraft goes, your choice is German or to a lesser extent Japanese. I would like to see some Italian aircraft too, but that would mean new molds and well some time in the far distant future at best. With the current molds, Corgi could make some really interesting models by depicting some of the Axis Co-Belligerents aircraft. Talking about countries like Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Serbia as an example. Just for Romania alone there is a fairly broad selection of existing aircraft that could be used, like the Hawker Hurricane, Bf 109E, Fw 190A, He 111 and the Ju 88 are some examples. The Ju 88 on display at Wright Patterson is in Romanian Markings. Corgis Bf 109E mold could be done in a variety of Co-Belligerent country markings (Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Yugoslavia). Some of these paint schemes are pretty interesting and would make for a little more variety to the existing paint schemes, which are predominantly US, Commonwealth and German aircraft. Romanian Michaels Cross on a Hawker Hurricane or a Bf 109E would look pretty sharp.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Man, I would kill for a 1/72nd Savoi Marchetti "Sparviero" bomber for sure!

It's a great point Cruver, and I would love some of these liveries as well. Some neutral country machines would be cool too, like a Swiss Me-109E with those big red and white cross insignia.

Unfortunately it all comes down to how many they can move of such schemes and the odder it is the slimmer the chances. So we can hope, or we can repaint!

I think there might just be a fairly large group of hard core collectors out that would be interested in something like this. Couple years back, would have held out little or no hope that a Brewster Buffalo would be made in diecast, but I have six now.

I agree! Definitley would make for some interesting looking paint schemes. How about these two examples?

Both these are out of a Signal/Squadron Publication Rumanian Air Force The Prime Decade 1938-1947

Re: Axis Co-Belligerent aircraft paint schemes.

Found two more that I would really like to see. The Blenheim would look great in this paint scheme.

What are you doing--trying to give me a heart attack!! There is no way I could turn either model down. Should Corgi ever start listening to members here (regarding liveries, moulds, etc) I will find myself single again

Re: Axis Co-Belligerent aircraft paint schemes.

These paint schemes would definitely stand out in a collection.
