Re: Axis Co-Belligerent aircraft paint schemes.

Might have to consider the Easy Model option. Sure would like either a Corgi Bf 109E or their Hawker Hurricane in Romanian markings though.

Do it Cruver, I think they're nice.

The Bulgarian, Italian or German paint scheme for a D 520, if IXO put some of these out I would definitely pick them up.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Axis Co-Belligerent aircraft paint schemes.

If you buy a kit of the IAR-80/81 you get the Romanian wing and fuselage insignias that are required. All you need, aside from these, are some yellow numbers which might be borrowed from a German fighter kit and the appropriate paint for the tail stripes. Of course, you have to paint the plane, itself, but that's a given. The same process applies for a Yugoslavian Hurricane. An IK-3 kit has the required wing and tail insignias and almost any numbers below 50 should do. Many Yugoslavian Hurricanes used the basic RAF green and brown upper surface camouflage, with a third color ( sand ) added. Their undersurfaces were often plain aluminum. I'm contemplating a redo of a Corgi BF-109E in Romanian colors and I may also try to convert a Corgi Hurricane into a Yugoslavian fighter at a later date. So many models to redo, so little time. Sigh!

That is a workable solution. I decided to get back into model building and have to decide what model I want to start off with. Sticking with 1/72nd scale and I have three I am interested in putting together. Kits are a Heller Focke Wulf 56 Stosser, Heller Morane 225, and an Encore Polikarpov I-15 with skis. If I do the I-15 it will be in Finnish markings. Any way I go, next week will place an order through Squadron for the paints on all and just go from there. I have a brand new airbrush I have been itching to try out.

Pray tell then Cruv' - what make/model is it ???????

You got a decent Electric-'mains' compressor to match ? or; using compressed-air cans ?

Your wish may soon come through. According to MRC's Easy Model catalog, they are including a Bulgarian version of the Dewoitine D.520. They've also got a Romanian and Hungarian JU-87D on their upcoming menu. What's more, the already released Easy Model Platinum Collection line, which is readily available, includes BF-109Gs in Croatian and Hungarian colors and there's a BF-109E in a Romanian motif. They even did a Hurricane MKIIC in Finnish service, but, as I'm sure you know, the Finns never got the cannon armed version of this fighter, so this is a mistake.

About 6 years back I go an Testors Aztek A430 Airbrush , which came with a real nice wooden case. I have used some of the earlier testors airbrushes and they worked real nice. I remember my first Badger airbrush, lots of cleaning involved with that one. No compressed cans here, have had a nice electric compressor for going on 15 years now. I was going through a box of my model supplies and found the airbrush case, nice, brand new, and needs to be used. So I need to get back into cranking out some models.

Yep the Finnish Air Force used the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I, so that would appear to be an oops.

The FInnish Air Force captured and used one Soviet Hurricane Mk.IIB and some of that mark were cannon armed. I can't find anything online that says whether any of the Soviet Hurricanes had cannons. If they did the model might be closer to correct.

One source lists the captured plane as a Mk.IIA armed with machine guns. That is the only source I found listing the armament of the captured plane.

Finland had some Lysanders too.....
