Opinions Wanted: W & W have Corgi AA34406 "Jersey Jerk" working range

Anyone out there with this bird that can comment on it -- I don't have a Corgi 1:32 'stang and am thinking about adding this to the hangar. Not really for the working range stuff but because I really like this particular scheme. Far as I'm aware FM is the only other option for this and I'm not going "there" with this mold.

Also, anyone know where to get it for less than $90 shipped?

I don't have it, but Tim (as usual) has some great pix of it:

Re: Opinions Wanted: W & W have Corgi AA34406 "Jersey Jerk" working range

I´ve got it and like it a lot. It´s not my favourite corgi P-51 (those are the aluminium Old Crow and the Big Beautiful Doll) but the colours really make it stand out. Over here there´s a P-51 flying in almost the same scheme, but with a yellow tail fin and invasion stripes. If corgi had chosen this scheme, it would have been my favourite...by far...

The working items on this plane inlude 2 bombs that can be dropped, but fueltanks would have been better (especially since the bombs are not coloured, which makes them look very toyish). I´m still thinking of painting them. I´m sure that it will look much better, but on the other hand I like to keep my models in their original state.
The landing gear works, inluding the rear wheel (although that one doesn´t fully extract on my model).

If I had to rate it I´d give it a 7 out of 10.

I hope this helps....

Thanks Roofie -- that does help, I've been oggling the pics but wanted to hear from someone with the actual model. Yeah, what is up with those silver bombs??? I'd probably display it "clean" anyways, and probably not on the stand... I just really like the scheme. I do so wish GMP had done it!

You can see my review of the Working Range P-51 in my thread "Tuskeegee P-51 Working Range" in the Corgi section.

If it is just the Jersey Jerk scheme you like ClassicCloseouts.com has the 1:48 Franklin Mint on sale in the clearance section for $28.99. I picked up the Big Beautiful Doll P-51 and am very pleased with it. Just enter "aircraft" in the search box, and you will find some really great deals.

Displaying it without the bombs crossed my mind as well. However the working mechanism of the bombs make that the´re fitted with a rather lange pin to hold them. When you leave them off, you¨ll see a hole under the holding point. I don´t think it will be disturbing when you display the P-51 on it´s landing gear, but if you decide to put it on the stand you´ll have to add the bombs.

Re: Opinions Wanted: W & W have Corgi AA34406 "Jersey Jerk" working range

Some cool info about pilot Donald Strait of "Jersey Jerk" P-51D I stumbled on the web: The Gathering of P-51 Mustangs and Legends, Sept 27-30, 2007, Columbus, Ohio, Rickenbacker Field

A very nice colour picture of his fellow squadron mates Mustangs at Martlesham base...
