Here you go Pappy and JP. Also took some photos with the Non-working BBD Mustang and the new HM Dauntless for comparison. Sorry about the crappy quality....still not as bad as Tank Nuts though!

Good Night, I'm going to bed now!!

No, their normal 1/32nd Mustangs are fine......just another example of why putting gimmicky crap on models sucks.

I agree with Ed & Skunky, I've got Stinger VII & Jumpin-Jaques
(though I recently swapped 'Jaques' for a Wellington) & they're fine, wing-wise......

"wing droop" is a non-starter (issue).

Pappy = gotta warn ya = even a certain dealer admits that the "working range" are unreliable, at best (that's why they've always reduced & gotten rid of their examples at cheaper rate !).

I'm even told that the finish & Q.C. on the Malan 'working' Spitfire is abysmal, so as Jersey-Jerk, is from the same-range/Era, I wouldn't imagine that it's any better ?

Skunky's got a point - these two important & desirable colour-schemes are ruined by "gimmicky-crap" as he (rightly) calls it.

Yes JP, the SBD is quite lovely. The Corgi 32 Mustangs are very nice but, IMHO, the HM SBD is several levels nicer. The panel lines are simply more crisp and paintjob is comparable to a factory painted car to Corgi's Earl Shive paintjob. Nothing wrong with Corgi's paint, it's just thicker and less realistic compared to HM's.

Yeah, I have a WR Hurricane I got on the bay for $41 -- packaging was water damaged but the model is perfect. I had a bit of an issue getting the contacts to seat properly -- I thought the engine "feature" was busted initially but got it working. Don't see this as a huge issue as they did a good job making the contacts as clean and hidden as possible on the model itself, which I appreciate. ANd once you have it seated in the stand properly there's really no reason to mess with it.

But I think the wing droop is going to keep me away from this one, which is a shame as I'd really like this bird in this scale. Perhaps if it ever hits ebay for a steal I'll go for it.

As for the gimicky features, well I think it would be downright obnoxious if all my models had "working" features. But you know, it is fun to have one or two that do -- particularly in the larger scales. They are great fun to demo to my kids and other friends kids that come by (and even a few of the husbands....the wives, well, you know...).

My two girls get a big kick out of the Hurri, making it worth certainly what I paid for it. I'd never pay $150 for one of these. Take the WR features out of the equation and the Hurri is a fine model, too, far as I can tell with no obvious (least to me) drawbacks from being part of the line (no wing droop, for example -- though it doesn't have dropping bombs). Clearly the Mustang suffers for having this "feature", which while a somewhat interesting idea for a gimick, is not worth the trade off to me.

Thanks all for your info and opinions on this model. You've enabled me to actually say "no" for once!

Oh, and thanks for the pics Trex! (My SBD won't be here probably until the end of the week or early next... but I did get it for $122 delivered, from a friend of a friend of a friend). So, that will make the wait a bit more palatable, and hopefully the apparent issues, too.

Did yours have the spinner droop Trex? (there I go, getting off track in my own thread I've got SBDs on the brain!)
