Re: Don Gentile's P 47 and Spitfire

I broke down and ordered them. Got them both from Aikens Airplanes for a pretty good deal. I hope they arrive by this weekend. Next on my list is the 1/32 Barkhorn Bf-109 to go with Hartmann's. Found a great deal on it and the person is going to hold it til April for me. Can't beat that with a stick.

What's the model number on the his P-51? I'm thinking I might have to get that one now too.

Re: Don Gentile's P 47 and Spitfire

I have nine P-47s in my hanger, five from Corgi, three DWs and one Easy Model. The Gentile model is fine, but nothing exceptioinal. Personally, I like the DWs razorbacks better. If you find it a fair price, buy it.

Re: Don Gentile's P 47 and Spitfire

I have both which I think are excellent. I also have the Matchbox Gentile P51 and display all three models together. I know the Spitfire sold well, however the P47 was a bite of a slow seller. As a side note, it's not to often you find a Spitfire with nose art so if you get a chance to buy it-grab it. I don't believe you will regret your purchase and this is coming from a Luft. Collector My 109s, 190s, etc needed something to shoot at

Nose Art! I knew there was something unique (Ar at least unusual.) about this bird I was forgetting. The nose art is pretty cool.

Glad to hear you took the plunge, let us know what you think?

I did however chose not to get the P-51B at this time.
JP

JP, what's your excuse for not choosing his P-51B?

You will not be disappointed!

I can't speak for JP, but if we are talking Corgi, I canceled my P-51B 'Shangri-La' pre-order the day after I received 'Missouri Mauler.'

I'm hoping Gemini Aces will make this bird.

Just thought I would add my comment here, DW P47s are brilliant as are their Mustangs.
DW are way ahead of Corgi with these two molds, imho of course.

I also have Corgi versions of these two and they are OK , its just that DWs efforts are better.

Re: Don Gentile's P 47 and Spitfire

Went ahead and got the Corgi 1/32 Barkhorn too. Found it for even cheaper at $66.00. I can't buy anymore for a while. Wife's orders.
