Re: How about a Soviet Hawker Hurricane?

Cruver,
The perception, which is probably true, is that Soviet birds won't sell. The folks on the forum would buy them, but the larger market wouldn't.

Anything for a weird life.

I wonder how this shows up with regards to the HM Airacobras?

Hi there,

Just wondering, what is your basis for such a perception and would you be able to 'quantify' such a perception? TY.

Re: How about a Soviet Hawker Hurricane?

I just have to think that the HM Soviet Airacobra might be a good litmus test with regards to how well Soviet or Soviet livery aircraft might sell. If the Soviet livery models are not moving or selling less than the ones in US livery, might be something to think about. I feeling that a Soviet line of aircraft might actually do fairly well.

Shoot, also wish Corgi would do a Hurricane with the twelve gun armament.

Actually they did CC, though it was the Merlins Over Malta commissioned Hurricane. It's a beauty!

Re: How about a Soviet Hawker Hurricane?

Good points made by all. The biggest question one has to ask oneself is how well did Soviet aircraft sell in the past? I'm in reference to Altaya/IXO, HobbyMaster's recent P-39, and Corgi's Spitfire Mk V. Once again, this depends on the marketing to certain demographics and age groups. If done properly, then I believe a diecast manufacturer can sell some Soviet bombers such as a IL-4, SB-2, DB-3, PE-2, PE-8, and TU-2. Perhaps HobbyMaster might want to try marketing a La-5, Yak-9, or a IL-2M3, in 1/48th scale, to see what kind of reaction the diecast world will have to these aircraft of the VVS that helped to make an impact on the Allied cause during WW2.

Looking forward to annoying the 'former' Florida Diecast Forum members!!

I would also like to see a LaGG-3 and Mig-3 too.
