| CC, it would be quicker to list what's not wrong with Corgi's (1/72nd scale) Mustangs...but ugly join lines, mis-shapen cowls, ridiculous looking pilots with horrible posture, incorrect paint shades are the primaries. They just seem to exude "blob appeal"
As far as the inner door issue goes, all P-51 doors (unless there are some special ones out there) will slowly bleed down once the aircraft is parked and shut down. If you're seeing pics of them retracted, then most likely they're either powered up or have just recently been shut down. Definitely don't want to be looking to FM for Mustang accuracies either. |
Yeah -- I have to agree, Skunky. Although I currently don't collect P-51s doesn't mean I don't examine them. But frankly, as I peruse the different ones available, GA still seems to have interpreted this aircraft much better than Corgi. The mold is
much more refined, as in keeping with the actual aircraft design. Let's face it -- that P-51 is one good looking fighter! My fave variants are the P-51B types, of which GA really shines out with. I'm drawn to 'Ding Hao!' which will find its way into my collection some day (along with the RAF/Polish Malcolm-hooded one).
Simply -- IMHO the GA ones are just a more refined model of a very refined fighter.
