Tornado ADV

Would it be fairly easy for Corgi to change their existing molds to include and ADV Tornado? From what I know it's really just the front fuselage section, primarily the nose that is different. Granted they'd have to change the mold to have recessed ports for the Skyflash. Hell I'd even let them keep the same fuel tank/pylon setup for the sake of making it easy for them. It'd be missing 2 Sidewinders but I suppose I could live with it.

Yeah you're right on with all points, pjal184. I've been wishing for Corgi to do the Tornado ADV F.3 variant as well!

Re: Tornado ADV

FlyX - that's a lovely, lovely shot of that 111 Squadron bird you've posted.

They (Jet a/c) ALWAYS look so dramatic if they're "low to the runway" & even better with trees/foiliage as a back-drop !

Re: Tornado ADV

Gorgeous pic flyXwire. Very nice. Glad to see so many folks out there agree with me. Corgi just seems to have forgotten about the Tornado's interception role.

Hey hornchurch,
You must see them from time to time,
I am very jeolous lol.
I have seen them do airshows a few times over here and they blow me away!!

Hi Tank-Nut; No word of a lie.....I get a free airshow virtually EVERY day Mon-Fri - though it's been quiet today)

Ya see, I live on the coastline/under the 'approach' to RAF-Holbeach - a NATO bombing-range, which is dead-opposite where I live.

There's a stretch of water, like a Giant 'Bay' called "The Wash" - I live one side & the "Range" is 1/2 way across, with YET another further along the Coast (at Wainfleet).
It's been a Bombing range since the 1930's till now & even the 8th A.F. used the next village as a gunnery-range (.50 cals), as well as an assembly-area for 8th Air-Force B.24's forming up, to bomb Germany !!!!!!!!

Recent weeks ALL the time, the house is shaking to the roar of Eurofighter/Typhoons as they curve round to "attack" the range & ALL the time, sitting in the garden, seeing 'em head towards me, then curve back-round for the next "mock" attack.

ALWAYS staring at their under-bellies as they curve round = fantastic fun= don't need airshows anymore, me

Yes, we get GR.4 Tornado's, Harriers which skim the rooftops & my Dearly-beloved F.15's from the 48th F.Wing from Lakenheath.

Even Dutch/Belgian F.16's (saw two coming out of local supermarket a few weeks back !)

Also, KC.135's (often), C.130's, & higher-up, C.17's AWAC's & curiously Thurs-Sunday C.5 Galaxy's heading over & up the East-Coast, going North.

All the Villagers talk about the A.10's when they come (back) over on detachment, as they fly very low overhead & even the average "Joe" can tell 'em apart.

Took my Son & his mate in Aug 2005 to "witness" "Exercise-Excalibur" which took place down the road !!!!!!!!!

SUPERB FUN = watching the A.10's using their GAU 30mm cannon at very close range & literally 'Ripping-up' the ground, with the Earth kicked up as high as a house (!!!!!!!!) & all the enthusiasts laughing at the "see it fire - watch the Debris/Strikes" & THEN hear it after !

Even seen a B.2 that flew over from "Whiteman AFB" (call-sign Fury 11) to attack the range !!!!!!!!!!!

I had a bad 'back-ache' & was laying down on the couch, when this thing went over !!!!!!!!!!!

Imagine the suprise !!!!!!!!! Everyone in the Bar that night was talking about it, as it flew serenly over, at just 5,000 ft in a clear blue sky around 'The Wash' for 1/2 hour making several-runs !!!!!!!!!!!

Couldn't have chosen a better place to live really, given what goes on here (!) as ya get to see ALL the modern-jets in their "natural-playground" for want of a better phrase !

WW.II planes for studying - Modern-Jets for watching, sheer noise & exhilaration !!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, forgot to say, that the F.3's DO come over, & often Dogfight over the North-Coast, t'ween here & Brancaster, but they look relatively tame, compared to when the 48th's F.15-E's "mix it" & try & get on each other's "six" for fun !!!!!!!!!!
It's the GR. versions of the Tornado which 'skim the deck'

Re: Tornado ADV

I LOVE the fighter version of the Tornado. It's amazing how little model representation it has. I mean, Corgi's done the IDS in 1/72 diecast, and so has Revell. Dragon announced it, but will likely never do it. Armour did 1/48. And now it's been done in 1/200! But still not a single ADV version?!?!?

As for changes----in addition to the forward fuselage/nose changes, the extreme rear fuselage needs to stretched---right behind the stabilator pivot. (it's a shroud/engine fairing thing, VERY similar to F-14A vs F-14B) Also, as viewed from above, the forward part of the wing gloves (near the intakes) are different than the IDS version--the leading edge at the root is further forward, giving the leading edge a sharper angle, so as to "match" the angle of the wings when fully swept. (When an IDS has the wings swept, the angle of the wing gloves do not "match" the wings themselves)

However, based on how Corgi made the IDS mold, I do think it was designed to accomodate an ADV version---the parts are split in the right place.
