More Halifax ideas

So I've been flipping through some of my Hally books over the past two evenings thinking of the possibilities for the next Corgi Halifax. With Friday coming soon I find myself favoring something other than the usual bomber varieties, so here's a few ideas that may be unique enough to generate some additional sales for the casting.

First up, a Coastal Command GRII of 502 Sqn. If the market will bear another Tollerton nose (with a 50 cal gun protruding!) this one also has a unique mid upper turret arrangement where the emplacement is raised up on a fairing to allow the guns to be depressed lower than usual, presumably for strafing targets on the sea surface. This aircraft was also unique in having 4 blade props on the outer engines for increased patrol range, while the inner engines retained the standard 3 bladers. HR686 failed to return from ops Oct 3, '44.

This MetV of 517 Sqn. is unique in having the rarely installed, even on bomber types, ventral Preston-Green gun turret. LL469 had 4 blade props on all four engines and a lower demarkation line for the grey upper surfaces than was typical on Met and GR Hallys.

And how about some invasion stripes! Yes we've already got the Operation Elaborate glider tug, but here's a very attractive Special duties A Mk V of 644 Sqn. Tarrant Rushton, complete with Joe hole! One problem though, this one begs for a Horsa glider to go with it....

And if none of these are viable for a full release, how about for the token redemption Halifax? My 6 blue ones are in!

Thumbs up Re: More Halifax ideas

I love the CC schemes and the first version pictured would truly make a unique model with that prop arrangement. I'd be in like Flynn

I'm not implying that Altaya's new 1:144th scale bomber line is on a par with Corgi's 1:72 productions, however they are featuring a Costal Command Halifax, which doesn't look half bad in the pictures posted on their website, altaya.fr. This is one of their entries that will soon be available via eBay and other sellers and I am probably going to add it to my collection---even if I have to make some "corrections".

Re: More Halifax ideas

I like the red Halton, minter, but funding will require I wait for it to hit a 'something lower than RRP' price. Not necessarily a dump price, but somewhere under the $100+ we see when this size a model hits the market. The timing relative to other releases is key.

Count me in for HR686 -- then I could justify buying a Swordfish or two, as I have nothing CC yet. This Halifax would move me.
