Re: More Halifax ideas

I just picked up a Coastal Command Wellington and I've been giddy as a puppy. That being said, those coastal command Halifaxes are just downright dreamy. Especially the livery with the differing props. Unfortunately I doubt Corgi's abiltiy to change their mould enough to get it right, but I'm sure we will get some Coastal Command plane that will make us all drool. (Okay, it will make me drool at least.)

Anything for a weird life.

Re: More Halifax ideas

Space is at a premium but I would make room for either of the Coastal Command schemes. Please Corgi

If you are referring to the GRII of 502 Sqn (HR686), I wouldn't be so quick to throw in the towel. Let's examine what is required. The nose exists. The main body of the model exists. The dorsal (upper-mid) turret 'sort of' exists with the Mk III Halifaxes, but it isn't quite right. But notice that this turret position is a plug-in panel, to accommodate the Mk II 'Brussels Sprout' and Mk III 4-gun turret variations. All Corgi has to do is make a mold for this panel area to accommodate the fairing. No biggy. Same goes for the radome at the underside. That would also be on a small separate plastic panel that would be easy to do. Corgi will have to do this eventually, as a number of Mk IIIs also have this radome. But again, these are small plastic panel mold alterations. CC variants apparently sell very well. The mix of 3/4 prop would be cool. Overall, I like the looks of this aircraft VERY much and would LOVE to have one in my collection. Then I could justify a Swordfish or two.

I say this bird is VERY do-able!

Re: More Halifax ideas

JustPlaneNuttz,
Hey there.

I sincerely hope you are right and Corgi is willing to go the extra mile. I'm just concerned that is Corgi decided on something like this bird, they would take some horrible short cut that everyone would scream bloody murder over. We'll only get one CC plane so it's got to be one that Corgi cannot screw up. (Not a bash of Corgi, just an observation.)

I hear 'ya loud and clear! They can phuttz stuff up and with a variant like this we do only get ONE chance. The catch is, with so many variants, is to lobby 'closer to Corgi' (you know where that is) with a clear model in mind, such as GRII of 502 Sqn (HR686). With luck, the powers of suggestion may take it up with the pooch.

If you start it off for HR686, I'll follow with support, OK? I would love to have that Halifax big time!! So would a number of others there! Lobbying -- U.S. style!

Looks good Rush; certainly 'quirky'

In all honesty though, it just wouldn't sell

I'd buy one (as you prob' would); but it wouldn't sell GENERALLY in worthwhile numbers.

A Coastal-Command one in Grey/White, however.......... Like Hot-Cakes !!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for posting the interesting link, anyhow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know if you're aware (?) but the Egyptians were the last Air-Force in the entire-World, to use the Short Stirling as an operational Bomber, flying their last active bombing missions with Stirlings (against the Israelis) in 1948 !!!!!!!!
(& they caused damage & casualties).

So, if someone fancies being "bold" & DOES follow your suggestion - then there's no excuse !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An Egyptian 'Bomber-Command' TRIO..... Stirling/Lancaster/Halifax

RESULT ALL ROUND !!!!!!!!!
