My new Jaguar!

My latest addition arrived this morning and very pleased I am too! This is the Jaguar T.2 of No. 41 Sqn based at RAF Coltishall in the county of Norfolk (for you Americans not so familiar with the UK ) and not a million miles from where I live. This is a nice piece which being circa 1977 fits in nicely with my Cold War collection, though 41 Sqn jets would have still been seen in the grey/green camo scheme until the late 1990's.

The only gripe is the addition of the starboard side cannon, which should not be there on the two seater. They only had one gun on the port side, and looking at the construction of this model this could've easily been rectified. I only hope they now do a Cold War era GR.1, preferably in the markings of one of the RAF Germany squadrons.

Are these still available?
Only 2180 released world wide back in 2006.
Great addition to your collection.

Re: My new Jaguar!

Mmmmmm na, no thanks! I've never been a fan of special schemes, and actually nor are the majority of collectors which is maybe why you can find the other "special scheme" Jaguars in the bargain bin, and this one not so. It just seems really odd why Corgi have released both the single seat Jaguar and Tornado GR.1 and neither has been finished in a definative Cold War scheme, after all both types were based in Germany in large numbers in the 70's and 80's. I'm getting to the point where I'm just going to buy the Revell Tornado GR.1 and make the bloody thing myself!

Re: My new Jaguar!

Nice looking piece, good pics, but it suffers from typical Corgi problem.... empty pylons. If memory serves only the 6 Sqn model comes with anything useful on the pylons and the over wing missiles.

True enough but don't forget this is a training version from 1977, long before the Phimat pods were introduced, and even longer before the overwing AIM-9 stations were fitted operationally to Jaguars (not sure the T.2/T.4 was ever wired for Sidewinders anyway). Although the overwing AIM-9 stations were always an option, they were not fitted to the RAF's Jaguar's until 1991 when they flew out to Kuwait after the Iraqi invasion.

I have pictures of T.2s in this configuration, well apart from the CBLS carrier on the centreline station, so it's certainly representative of an early T.2 Jaguar.
