Re: Corgi Tuskegee P-51B - CANCELLED

parsig9,
No announcements, just my desire to have more Tuskeegee planes.Dragon has a really nice P-47 mould, Gemini a really nice P51 mould. Both companies are due a couple of Tuskeegee's in my book.

Very, very true Djjeffhall - both companies produce benchmark diecasts for their respective types i.e. P47s and P51B/Cs .

One sheep to rule them all ...

Re: Corgi Tuskegee P-51B - CANCELLED

Didn't they have P-40s as well? Before the red tails of course. Dragan has / had one of those in the pipeline.

Re: Corgi Tuskegee P-51B - CANCELLED

Shawn 507,
Really?!?!?!?! Tuskeegee P-40's? WOW, bring that livery on. I won't claim to be the P-40 fantaic like Jim, but that might be my favorite bird. (Okay, maybe second behind the Dauntless? Maybe first in front of the Dauntless? Damn, heads or tails...?)

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Corgi Tuskegee P-51B - CANCELLED

I hope Corgi gets the message of how terrible their mustangs are

You can only hope, but I'm not sure that this was Corgi's decision.

This one was a Mule special, and I heard from somewhere else that they just did not get the pre-orders necessary to make it worthwhile pursuing. The fact that the basic model is a dog didn't help I'm sure.

Ooops!

Re: Corgi Tuskegee P-51B - CANCELLED

I too had all the Corgi Tuskegee planes until I saw how bad the B model was. I cancelled my pre-order for what would have been my 4th Corgi Tuskegee and sold my "Bunnie" P-51D right away on e-bay. I knew my dreams of a collection were dashed. My Creamer Dream is next. I will keep the VCorgi tuskegee P-47 Razor for a while longer being that I own the # 0001 of 2,500 ever produced by Corgi. I think that merits holding on a bit longer dontcha think?

Yuck to the Corgi P-51D's and B's too. Gemini is my only hope because unlike Dragon who make beautiful models, Gemini's sit on their gear without fear of eventual collapse.

Re: Corgi Tuskegee P-51B - CANCELLED

Louie,
Hey there.

Like you, I canceled my preorder as soon as I saw pictures of the Flying Mule special. In fact, I had all four of the pending specials on order and canceled them all. The pictures of the Corgi B broke my faith in Corgi pre-order, unfortunately. (At least they did for that week.)

I've since reordered the surviving Stuka since it's an older mould and we know that it is well done. I just feel sorry for Martin since I'm sure he had to make some investment with Corgi, even if it was just time spent on updating his web and designing the liveries. In a small business like his, time is money.

Anything for a weird life.

Yep the first aircraft the Tskeegee airmen took into combat was the P-40, unlike their latter mounts the P-47 & P-51 the P-40 did not have the red tail paint scheme.
I think the Tuskeegee P-40 would make an awsome diecast.
