Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Harry,
I've been thinking the same thing. As soon as word got out that the Halifax, and I guess all the specials, were going to be of the silver paperweight variety, folks held off sending in their tokens. At least that is what I did. It wasn't until the rumour started that a "real" livery was getting released did I contact anyone and send in my tokens.

Now, it looks like I'm getting that silver landfill item (Presuming I'm on the list?) and folks are getting bent out of shape without having all the facts. Unfortunately Corgi doesn't have a good track record of actually talking to us vocal few either here or in the UK letting us know what is and isn't happening and qwelling problems like this when they get started.

I can honestly say that I have always received my "freebies" promised by Corgi, so why should this be any different?? Just like the previous promotions, I am not going to gripe over a Silver paperweight, especially if it is FREE..

I can agree with you for the most part, Harry, except for the "free" part. It is most definitely not free. The whole point of the promotion is to induce people to buy more models, and I have to say I was more intent on purchasing models I may not have otherwise acquired but for the promise of a give away.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Harry and Old Crow,
Hey there.

You both make excellent points. I agree with Old Crow that the model is most definitely NOT free. I certainly bought models at a much faster pace than I would have otherwise to get the tokens on time. I probably would have purchased six WWII Corgi birds anyway, but not nearly at the pace I did this year. I certainly will not pull the trigger next year in any effort to get the freebie, should there be one. (I'm not going to say anything silly like I'm not buying Corgi. I will, most all of the folks reading this will despite their protests. I just won't buy with a desire to particapate in a give away.)

Harry, I also agree with you that in my very limited dealings with Corgi, they have been fine and professional. As noted above, when I emailed the Corgi USA rep, he was prompt, professional and helpful.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

It sounds like to me that in reality, there were only about 140+ people that sent in tokens, Corgi set a cutoff date and allocated 150 models to be made to supply that need.. Why make 500 Halifaxs only to dump 2/3rds of them after the giveaway??? It wouldn't surprise me if this is what Corgi did and in essence, make an ultra-rare release, much to the dismay of the people that chose not to send in their tokens or were too late..

I guess we shall see.....

I just don't buy that. There has not been enough time between the closing date of the offer and the distribution of models for Corgi to react to that. Someone made this decision several months ago.

Also I'll be right pissed if I don't get it. I sent my token in in May, and have still not received a response form Corgi.

Ooops!

Timbo, send a note to the above email and I'm sure you'll get the news within a day or so.

Good luck!

The Halifax is the same version as the just recently released desert scheme.. Corgi probably tacked on 150 additional models on that run to make the "Special", (that is usually how it is done).. With as few people on here and on the UK forum that sent their tokens off for the "Freebie" or whatever you want to call it, it wouldn't surprise me if that is exactly what happened..

Well heck, I'll just tell Corgi they can send me one of the Desert birds and don't bother with the limited exclusive.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

What we need is No4 or Harry to offer to paint these up for $100 a crack and then life would be perfect. Or for $100 worth of crack, whatever.

Hint hint.
