Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Hmmm.... seperate US/UK issue numbers/volume...? different models...? I have doubts given the record of (non)communication between the two entities. I got confirmation that I'm on the list from Matthew too, so it will be interesting to see what shows up on my doorstep.

To be honest, I could care less what their issues are regarding the separate US/UK numbers and differing models as long as they follow through on the original offer. Due to this and other CS issues, goodwill from Corgi's core customer base is probably done. Heck, it's not like they're the only player in the market these days!

Hopefully, HM, GA, and other's won't be scared away from any possible future offers to their fans. IIRC, Dragon did 1 or 2 special offers and I don't recall many people complaining......well anymore than usual about Dragon anyway!

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Corgi would be really ticked if they knew we were selling the tokens on here for $5.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

I wouldn't be thrown by the 150 on the certificate. It would not surprise me if 150 went to the UK and 350 went to the US for a total of 500 worldwide.

Nice theory except the certificate, box and outer sleeve all say "One of only 150 Aircraft Produced Worldwide". (Ungrammatical capitalisation by Corgi, not me).

Perhaps they have 500 models to cover the 4 offers, 150 Halifaxes and 350 distributed amongst the other 3, or there again perhaps not.......

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

From reading the UK site, it sounds like all out war has been declared on head kennel. There are some seriously pissed people over there.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

I was just reading some of that too, timbo. I wasn't all that surprised until reading some commentary by some members who are normally strong proponents of Corgi and have contacts there. They are HOT, and rightly so. Regardless of the 'model subject to change' disclaimer (which in my book implies type/color/etc, but not quantity) , to change the issue number so drastically smacks of a bait and switch fraud.

They are a bit riled up over there to say the least and it even looks like the 150 number mentioned might be right. This could get real interesting.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

It sounds like to me that in reality, there were only about 140+ people that sent in tokens, Corgi set a cutoff date and allocated 150 models to be made to supply that need.. Why make 500 Halifaxs only to dump 2/3rds of them after the giveaway??? It wouldn't surprise me if this is what Corgi did and in essence, make an ultra-rare release, much to the dismay of the people that chose not to send in their tokens or were too late..

I guess we shall see.....

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Harry,
I've been thinking the same thing. As soon as word got out that the Halifax, and I guess all the specials, were going to be of the silver paperweight variety, folks held off sending in their tokens. At least that is what I did. It wasn't until the rumour started that a "real" livery was getting released did I contact anyone and send in my tokens.

Now, it looks like I'm getting that silver landfill item (Presuming I'm on the list?) and folks are getting bent out of shape without having all the facts. Unfortunately Corgi doesn't have a good track record of actually talking to us vocal few either here or in the UK letting us know what is and isn't happening and qwelling problems like this when they get started.

Anything for a weird life.
