Re: Free Halifax Deal?

I'm not upset about the model being limited, nor do I think the email from Corgi was unprofessional. The part that upsets me in this whole affair is that in my email to Corgi USA, the weekend before the deadline, I specifically said (I paraphrase) "If you all are producing the silver thing, I have no interest. However, the rumor going around on the Model Hanger forum is that Corgi is producing a real livery bird. If so, I'm interested. Am I to late?"

My reply came over the weekend, within a day of me sending my email. Very prompt reply. I was a little concerned that the rep never confirmed or denied that there was going to be a real livery, but in my several emails with him, I made it clear that I did not want that silver paperweight thing. He could have said, "I don't know?" and I would have passed. That would have been fine and dandy.

He encouracged me to get the tokens mailed ASAP and that he would keep an eye out for my name incase my letter arrived late. I thought that was very cool, so I have no problems with how it was dealt with. I just don't want a silver Halifax.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Dear John

Thank you for your fax. Yes, you did send these through in time, however, how you heard about what the limited edition would look like, I don’t know. We haven’t told anyone yet, well not until this week! So if you can tell me who told you, that would be helpful. Yes, it is a silver-painted edition with no markings I am afraid. And, to be expected, the Halifax was by far the most claimed model, so despite the promotion ending officially, we have had far in excess of claimants for this exclusive model; and with this some disappointed claimants. All available models have been allocated to earlier claimants. So, despite sending the fax, you would not have been successful, although I think from what you have said, you would be disappointed in a silver model.

And just how would this be helpful? Very grade school.

My sentiments exactly. Totally grade school.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

...and thanks for participating please try again next year?

Those who got their tokens in and confirmed were disappointed because of the silver Hal, and those who sent in tokens and didn't get a reply were disappointed by the lack of information, and those WWI collectors who initially planned to send in tokens were disappointed because there was nothing to send in, and WWII collectors are disappointed because the special Hal still isn't available, and everyone is disappointed because Corgi has a policy of replying to only one email a month, and that picked at random by someone in the typing pool.

For all of these reasons (and more), I don't think Corgi will want to repeat this debacle--this year or any year...

(Which begs the question: if they repeat the promotion, will any collector be dumb enough to participate?)

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Three silver Halifaxes just turned up at my door, certificates say each is one of only 150 Worldwide, not 500.

Look better than I expected.

Celtic; you CAN bet your "bottom-Dollar" that there will be plenty more "mugs in the offing"........

The way some folks bang-on about "low-numbered" certificates & the like (it's a bit of cardboard,FFS !!!!), there are PLENTY of "Anoraks" around who are willing to indulge in another "blonde-moment", & sucumb (sigh).

Some of the lads who've been caught out on here, are understandably dissapointed (IT WAS 1ST TIME AROUND, after-all !!!!)
- & are now "once-bitten-twice-shy"

Corgi have rather stupidly upset some of their customer-base, by 'Dangling-the-carrot' = Big "own-Goal"

But rest-assured, there will be more 'cannon-fodder' along soon, should Corgi be dumb-enough to run another "deal".

Sorry, but that's 'Jaded-Ol'-me

That does not sound very promising. I hope it is a typo on the certificate.

If it is a mistake, it is repeated on both the box and the outer sleeve several times also.
