Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Everything else aside, the letter from the Corgi rep. was totally unprofessional. Gives you some insight as to their corporate mentality.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

I read, and re-read the letter and I don't consider it un-professional, sure it was a casual email, but how else would she have told you that you were too late??? The conditions were clearly spelled out on the brochure for the offer and it specifically stated that it was a limited edition of 500 and first come-first served.. This offer has been going on now for over a year and people actually expect that Corgi still honor the offer even after all this time??? Come'on, Lets give them a little break guys...

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

I'm not too upset about missing out on a silver Halifax - I collect diecast military aircraft, not silver paper-weights. I had all the tokens months and months ago but didn't bother sending them off because I consider the model being offered to be a total waste. But I'd be really p1ss3d if it turned out that they did have a change of heart and gave away a non-silver Halifax.

In her e-mail, Jane Watson states that they had only announced the scheme this week, yet we all have known about it for months? That I don't understand. Overall I think Corgi's choice for a giveaway was poor, and their communications were terrible. However, they did clearly state that there were only going to be 500 models available, released on a first-in, first-served basis, so no-one can be too upset about that.

I too have re-read that letter and I too have to say it was worded very unprofessionally -- much the same manner a junior would without supervision. That should never have gone out like that.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Or you could send it to no4mkit and he could turn that polished turd into a piece of art. He's quite gifted you know, and I hear he has a soft spot for Halifaxes.

Thank you for thinking of me, Canucklehead kind sir! Yes, I'm happy to take on any and all unwanted Halifaxes and give them a happy home with a respectable coat of paint to wear!

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Ok Corgi has received tokes that have claimed the 500 models as advertised. Is it out of the realm of possibility to think that Corgi could have responded to those who sent in tokens past that point that they had missed the initial 500 point, and thanks for participating please try again next year?

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

While I agree the e-mail is professional in terms of conveying the intended messages (1st come, 1st served, and any claim about a real model instead of a silver paperwight is a rumor), it is, in my opinion, much too sterile for a response to a disappointed customer/collector. It also contains poor grammar and punctuation, even if it is an e-mail.

But what is most telling to me is the fact it confirms no one at Corgi bothers to monitor any of the leading forums, which seems to me to just be good business sense.
