Re: Free Halifax Deal?

??? Any ideas what's going on?

By way of update, my contact at Master Replicas/PopCo (former owner of Corgi USA), the chief financial officer for US operations, returned from vacation last week and replied to my last e-mail to report that she is going to take it up with the powers that be.

Keep your fingers crossed and be patient.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

I'd say 'disappointed' is putting it rather mildly

True! But from the advert it would appear that some people have actually received their silver Halifax. Seems really odd to me that a small-time dealer in New Zealand is offering one for sale, while none of the members of this forum (or the UK-based DAF) appear to have received one. Surely, if these two "venues" are fairly representative of diecast collectors worldwide, someone would have reported receiving their free model?

PS: I see someone has bought the model for NZ$799 - that approx US$605 - a pretty good price to receive for a "free" model!!!!!

A few members of the UK forum did get their Halifax, but many did not.

Hold the presses. I didn't know any of these models were produced, and now we're finding they are on the secondary market? I got my Confirmation letter from Corgi dated 12 April 2007, and that's after buying models from a delayed production schedule. Also, we were promised 500 models, not 150! If some in the UK got a model, then we should be asking why there and not here, and why the original total was shortened by 350 copies. It sounds like a lack of demand wasn't the problem, but a lack of supply! I'm beginning to think Corgi was finding the whole proposition just too expensive and skipped out of their stated agreement. This wasn't a limited production run of 150 models; it was a truncated run that was supposed to be 500 models.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

From what I have read in the UK forum I think Corgi UK received and distributed 150 silver Halifaxs based on when they received the tokens.

Someone living in Germany or New Zealand could have easily sent the tokens to Corgi UK and received one of these planes.

The card which came with each plane says nothing about 500 but it was printed in Corgi's 2007 catalogue.

I think Old Crow may have an answer for us one of these days

On the promotional brochure that comes with each plane, it clearly says," We are producing a highly exclusive run of 500 models for each section of Aviation Archive that can only be obtained by colecting 6 tokens from inside the packs! These models will be variants of the 2007 new tooling and will be issued on a first come first served basis".

From what I have read in the UK forum I think Corgi UK received and distributed 150 silver Halifaxs based on when they received the tokens.

Good afternoon,

From what I believe then only 150 were produced which was actually a very long shortfall from what Corgi received in the end or by the closing date that the card stated. I know of a lot of UK members (inlcuding myself) that await the Silver Halifax and other offered free models for tokens which have not appeared.

I am also not sure what is happening with the offer also now that Corgi do not exist,, it is now Popco as has been defined earlier. I did know (originally before the takeover) that a certain member of staff was looking into the situation, but since the takeover I am now not sure what is happening.

I too would be interested in any further information as I am sure a number of UK forum members I talk too.

I know that nobody over here in the UK is persueing the matter, but would be interested in any details from your side of the pond.

Must have missed that! I was under the impression no-one had received the models.

It was also the number quoted in the confirmation letter I received!
