Re: Free Halifax Deal?

From my card - "Collectors in the US and Canada should send their tokens to - Aviation Archive Offer, Corgi USA, 105 West Adams Street, Suite 2050, Chicago, IL 60603."

Yup, but no mention of where collectors in New Zealand, Australia, Asia Africa or South America should send their's?

I threw caution to the wind and send mine back to dear old Blighty, or should I say "The Mother Country"!!
Oh what fun to be a "young colonial upstart"....

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

I faxed my tokens to the UK, and also posted them by airmail. Had an e-mailed reply from Jane Watson, the marketing manager of Corgi (see below). Have to say I am very disappointed in the way this entire debacle has been handled by Corgi.

"Dear John

Thank you for your fax. Yes, you did send these through in time, however, how you heard about what the limited edition would look like, I don’t know. We haven’t told anyone yet, well not until this week! So if you can tell me who told you, that would be helpful. Yes, it is a silver-painted edition with no markings I am afraid. And, to be expected, the Halifax was by far the most claimed model, so despite the promotion ending officially, we have had far in excess of claimants for this exclusive model; and with this some disappointed claimants. All available models have been allocated to earlier claimants. So, despite sending the fax, you would not have been successful, although I think from what you have said, you would be disappointed in a silver model.

I apologize, but I regret you were unsuccessful with this promotion, but I would like to thank you for your effort and obvious interest shown in our models.>>

May I wish you the best for 2008.

Kind regards

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

I agree with you totally on this one Spinnaker. Very poor show on Corgi's part. No doubt it was one of the "old management" ideas/decisions, but you'd think there was enough time to remedy the situation before it was too late.

Oh, and to all who are getting the free Halifax... Hi Ho Silver! Enjoy your bowling trophies ladies! Ha ha!*

*In six months when Corgi finally get around to delivering the free Halifax, and they have changed their plans and it is a livery I totally want, please do not bring up this post. Thank you.

Was there anything in the fine print about "1st come, 1st served" for a limited amount of models on offer? They did'nt even offer you a bl**dy 1/72 Warbird, pretty rude I reckon.

Corgi reputation (such as it is) has just nose-dived big time for me

Corgi did cover their butts on that one. The information card did say that "All free models are subject to availability on their limited edition run", and while they didn't say that the LE for these was 500, I'm pretty sure that I read it somewhere. The next line reads "The first come, first served process relates to date of receipt of tokens", so while they did screw this pooch pretty bad, they can't be called out for anything on that particular point.

Where it reads "Models will be sent to those eligible within 28 days of receiving tokens where possible (and where model is available)." makes me giggle a bit. Almost as much as "All model liveries to be confirmed." The closest we've gotten to any sort of confirmation is the email Spinnaker just posted.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Well, that sucks. Yes, the card does say first come first served.

Frankly, mine is probably going in my dumpster the minute it arrives, persuming I'm on the list?

Anything for a weird life.

I'd give you a couple bucks for it, just to paint it up myself. Or you could send it to no4mkit and he could turn that polished turd into a piece of art. He's quite gifted you know, and I hear he has a soft spot for Halifaxes.
