That does not sound very promising.

Who was your contact? I have been in contact with a Matthew Harrell. I just sent him an E-mail today to see if I could get some answers.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Funny you should mention that name KableAce. In fact I recounted my adventures with Corgi this afternoon in an email to Pappy. Here's what has transpired with my attempts to contact Corgi:

A couple of weeks ago I sent an email through Corgi USA's web site asking about the status of the free Halifax promotion. I said that I had been read postings on the Internet by fellow collectors who were concerned, if not critical, of Corgi's handling of the promotion - especially for US collectors. I said I was concerned as a long-time collector of the AA product line and was hoping they would be so kind as to allay my fears about the promotion having gone bad. That everyone who was promised a model, like myself, would indeed get one. A week passed without an answer.

Last week I sent a follow-up email expressing my dismay and disappointment that I have not received any response to my previous email. I again recounted my concern as stated previously and expressed my hope that Corgi will not renege on its obligation to its customers. Still no response.

So last night I sent an email to Mathew Harrell, who was the person who informed me I would receive my model this past January and who has responded swiftly to my emails in the past. I wrote an email telling him about my concern, about being ignored by Corgi, and that I hope he could both enlighten me to the status of the promotion and, perhaps, salvage a dissatisfied customer from going elsewhere. Needless to say, no response (but no email error yet).

So to me this has become a sort of jihad, if you will pardon the phrase. It is a combination of principle and of becoming personal (I take being ignored by a company who has made a great deal of money off me quite seriously). Corgi is really setting itself up for a fall among collectors, well, this one anyway, by treating customers like they don't matter. They may not think so, but they do.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Was it here that I read that Corgi USA have now closed their doors and that employees are working from home? I do not remember which forum that was on.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

The individual with whom I corresponded by e-mail is also Matthew Harrell of CorgiUSA. He replied to me on February 19 to indicate I had qualified and the models would be shipping "soon."

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Methinks some of you are facing something of a dilemma - I hope you get it sorted soon and get your free Halifaxes ... strange behaviour that does not bode particularly well for Corgi US .

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Hey folks,
I haven't heard anything about the free Halifax, however, let me help you with a couple of things.

First, Corgi USA is still around. Try CALLING them. Phone is listed under contact on the web site. I just received a model that was missing a canopy, called, got a hold of the guy in charge and was taken care of in two minutes. (Part supply is on the way to them from the U.K. I'll get my canopy in short order.)

Second, don't get put off or up tight if someone doesn't return an email. It's not personal, it's called being swamped in a small office. In my company, we have two folks working. I'm the main email guy, plus the packing guy, plus the inventory guy, plus the phone guy, plus....... I've got over 600 unread emails right now. I'm not out to get these folks, I'm freaking busy!!! Corgi has a land line, give em a call.

Unfortunately, I plum forgot to ask about the free Halifax, but does anyone have any reasonable reason to think this will not fulfilled? Sure, I'd like to have it sooner that later, but it will show up. (Okay, I only want mine so I can throw that silver paperweight in a dumpster and take pictures. )

Anything for a weird life.
