Re: Free Halifax Deal?

It sounds like to me that in reality, there were only about 140+ people that sent in tokens, Corgi set a cutoff date and allocated 150 models to be made to supply that need.. Why make 500 Halifaxs only to dump 2/3rds of them after the giveaway??? It wouldn't surprise me if this is what Corgi did and in essence, make an ultra-rare release, much to the dismay of the people that chose not to send in their tokens or were too late..

I guess we shall see.....

With the lead times for production/distribution and given that the silver birds have already landed in the UK, I think the production numbers were signed off quite some time ago. Certainly before Corgi could say with certainty what the final demand was. I also saw what now transpires to have been a pre-pro many moons ago. Nah, I am going to be very charitable and call this a 'mistake'.A bad one because at the very least, they have hacked off some hardcore collectors in the UK by this and other recent actions.

Hopefully everyone who sent in tokens by the cut off date will get their model. Otherwise, Corgi will have a lot of answering to do....

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

My 'avis argentus raris' arrived today from Corgi. I sent my tokens in last November and got the receipt back after a few weeks. It is a lot better looking than I expected. It is in reality 'something for nothing' as I was going to buy the aircraft containing the tokens anyway. The free Halifax in silver (unknown at the time) did not influence me in any way to purchase the models.

In the UK area and that includes to all intents and purposes the Republic of Ireland the certificate states the numbers produced to be 150. I hope you guys Stateside are lucky. In earlier posts I did slag it off as hood (bonnet) mascot but at the end of the day it may be worth something because of it's rarity value. The other option is to get someone with modelling skills to do a re-paint in some un released scheme.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Those that have received it seem to like the silver version. So, much ado about nothing?

R2.. Who will this have "hacked off"??? Most collectors who wanted this model sent in their tokens long ago and will get it in the mail soon, so I don't understand your (and the UK forums attitude) of "we got screwed"...
Sure, some of the "late comers" won't get one but that is typical of any free promotion.. Again, I just don't understand it.....

Now, if people who sent their tokens in don't get one, then there will be a reason to complain, but my understanding is that these are just now arriving, so we won't know who does or doesn't get one.. I sent mine in last June, so I am fairly confident that I will get one, and I will be one to gripe if i don't..

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

So Shamrock you sent your tokens in in November and received the Free Halifax already. It gives me a bit of hope, as I sent mine off in August registered mail, so I know Corgi got it. Never got a reply from Corgi, maybe there is some hope. If not I will be seriously considering, drastically curbing my Corgi purchases in the future. Was going to rant more but I will wait and see what happens before I blow up.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

So you're telling me there's a chance...Yeah!

I will second that motion.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

My advice for what it is worth would be to keep 'your powder dry' and wait a few weeks to see what turns up. I feel that there was a massive under-subscription to this offer and that is why so few have been produced. People may have a point with the other offers though, as the aircraft were not released in time to collect the tokens. In this case Corgi must extend the offer on these items. What else are they going to do with promo items that nobody can qualify for

I was told by Corgi in Chicago they were shipping them in the last weeks of February.

On Feb 12 they said.........."We will be shipping that out in the next couple of weeks."

So lets wait and see what happens.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

I followed the advice of others and e-mailed Corgi USA. The response I received was that my tokens had been received and that models would be shipped when they are ready but not a specific confirmation that I had qualified (i.e., that my tokens had been received before thay ran out of whatever number was allotted). So, I gues its wait and see.

Re: Free Halifax Deal?

Same here Old Crow. I got no confirmation that I'm getting the model, just an email (responding to my enquiry) saying I'm on the list. I followed up asking how many people have submitted to Corgi USA for the Halifax model and he says they are "very close" to the 500 number.

What the real issue number is is anyone's guess but anything less than 500 is going to go over like a lead balloon!

OK guys - whoever get's their Halifax from Corgi USA first has a duty to the forum. Drop everything you're doing (except the model!) and report in here on the issue quantity as stated on you box and/or certificate! Agreed??!!
