Will we ever see a B 29 from corgi??

After seeing the B 29 down in New England and how cool it was I wish that someone like corgi would build a b 29 in 1-72 scale. Anybody else want one??

I'll pass on one in 1/72. I like the existing 1/144th ones.

Re: Will we ever see a B 29 from corgi??

I know this one is at the top of many folks wish list (Previous poll definitely pointed towards that). In the past I had a Cruver ID 1/72nd model of the B-29, and well,,, it was big. Have to admit that all that glass in the cockpit area could really have some potential for nice interior detailing though.

Anyone want to take a guess on the cost of a B-29 in 1/72?

Re: Will we ever see a B 29 from corgi??

Doubt that we will see one, but I for one would probably buy one just to put it along side my other 1:72 aircraft for size. I will admit, that it would be big.

I am no math expert, except on the dimensions of a womans figure, but I figure if at 1:72 scale the B-17 dimensions are 17.25" wing span and 12.25" in overall length, then the a 1:72 scale B-29 based on a wing span of 141' would have a wing span of approximately 30" and based on length of 99' it would be approximately 16.5" in length.

That is a big bird to find space for.

I found the following to illustrate the size difference between the B-17 and the B-29. Can you imagine having a 1:72 scale B36, as illustrated below compared to the B-17 and B-29. Holy Crap.

There are some plastic model B-29s in 1/72 scale out there.

Re: Will we ever see a B 29 from corgi??

I don't think it will happen in 1/72 because the price would be much too high. I suspect Corgi would be hesitant to break the $200 price point and I'd think to do the model right they would have to. Plus they would be competing against their existing 1/144 models. I suspect many collectors would say "for that price I'll just keep my 1/144".

Found one more picture showing a B-17, B-29, and B-36 to compare the sizes.

Smile Re: Will we ever see a B 29 from corgi??

I don't believe that there would be a big market for it. From threads on a new bomber from Corgi the B29 does not feature as highly as the many twin engeined machines not yet produced in diecast. Its size could also prevent it being posted internationally. For example, the cost to post a 1/32 Mosquito from the UK is extorsionate and they simply will not post it from the US. That said, it would be a really cool model. It might work if produced in small number but that it turn would increase cost.
